If you know that you can do something for your family and countrymen back home, you will do just that with all honesty and dedication – despite displaying your own weaknesses! What this Filipino Diplomat did was heroic and here’s the documentary of his brilliant speech:
Mr. President, I have the honor to speak on behalf of the resilient people of the Republic of the Philippines.
At the onset, allow me to fully associate my delegation with the statement made by the distinguished Ambassador of the Republic of Fiji, on behalf of G77 and China as well as the statement made by Nicaragua on behalf of the Like-Minded Developing Countries. http://www.rtcc.org/2013/11/11/its-time-to-stop-this-madness-philippines-plea-at-un-climate-talks
No wonder that LARGE SCALE international aids came first before local authorities can do their own responsibilities in calamities like the Yolanda aftermath. Thanks to the Filipinos’ love for their families. The distance did not hinder their constant communication even beating the failing communication system in nearby towns. It just took one text message to a victim’s brother in Warsaw, Poland – and alas! Help was acted upon immediately and the fasting should be natural. Who can eat when you know that your loved ones are hungry for days?
