Firing fast can get rid of a bad employee quickly – but this does not mean that the problem will vanish right then and there. It is best to investigate what’s making your good employee unproductive at the present time. When he or she is not as enthusiastic with his or her job as before and not reporting problems. Giving your employee the benefit of the doubt on why the declining performance happens is a noble act – and good thing can happen with that kind of gesture. However, there are limitations for everything because bad staff can cost you a lot of money. The poor performance must be pointed out to the concerned person and support should be in place in helping the problematic man or woman – but for a limited span of time, of course. Observing the employee for at least 1 to 3 months should be enough for you to decide to fire him or her. Do it well.
