Although men can rarely have urinary track infection, it is complicated when it does occur. Thorough medical check up is advised for the bladder, kidneys, external genitalia and prostate. This can happen due to lack of water intake but some are actually genetic in nature. A dose of anti-biotic can normally remedy a basic UTI but consult your doctor if it is more complicated than that:

Urinary Tract Infection in Males

By: John L Brusch, MD,

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are rare in adult males younger than 50 years but increase in incidence thereafter. Causes of adult male UTIs include prostatitis, epididymitis, orchitis, pyelonephritis, cystitis, urethritis, and urinary catheters. Owing to the normal male urinary tract’s many natural defenses to infection, many experts consider UTIs in males, by definition, to be complicated (ie, more likely to be associated with anatomic abnormalities, requiring surgical intervention to prevent sequelae). http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/231574-overview

Trying to ignore the discomforts will be difficult because your focus to your day to day tasks will be hampered. It is painful and a real sacrifice – so why not do something about it immediately right after feeling the abnormality? Grab some fresh buko juices if you have something against taking over the counter anti0biotics. However, the best thing to do is to go to the doctor and get proper prescription at the soonest possible time.
