Winter Olympics: Vladimir Putin’s Support to His Ice Skating Olympians

Politics were also present in the selection of Russian contenders in the Team Skating category – but Russian President Vladimir Putin did not play it there in the Winter Olympics. His presence in the Sochi  was enough to cheer the expert ice skating athletes and he also gave recognition to the first gold medalist of Russia – Yulia Lipnitskaya, the 15 year old gold recipient during the figure skating team event. Controversial ice skating contender Evgeny Plushenko might not be 100% happy with his initial performance but you can sense that he’s very determined to make it to the top. Perhaps not this Winter Olympics but maybe next?
