Outgoing Vice President Jejomar Binay’s presidential defeat seemed to be minor for him to even get bothered. The fundamental thing is his family’s recovering Makati City Hall that indicates the Binays’ strong political force in the Philippines, said ex-Senator Aquilino Pimentel Jr.
Jojo Binay’s daughter, former Makati Rep. Abigail Binay, is now the new mayor of Makati. Her husband, Luis Campos, replaces her as Makati district II’s Representative. Nancy Binay, the eldest daughter, will be serving three more years as senator.
Pimentel seems to be fearing that another national conquest by the Binays is now cooking for the next election, six years from now. This is probably why Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales don’t want to let go of the older Binay’s alleged corruption case. The question is; will incoming President Rodrigo Duterte supports the Ombudsman or Binay instead – who is a close friend and an ally?
