Conchita Carpio Morales, the ombudsman who swears to file cases against outgoing Vice President Jejomar Binay might lose her credibility with Trillanes’ downfall. The Court of Appeals cited a transcript of Trillanes’ media interview during the Senate probe on corruption allegations against outgoing Vice President Jejomar Binay and his family – and it was concluded that; a senator is not above the law.
The court did not buy Trillanes’ plea that he was only doing his job as a senator when he made libelous statements against the Binays and the CA itself. The court is firm into saying that in fact, the senator failed to show that he was a lawmaker responsible in implementing his functions. Since
he was not performing his job in those moments he made the allegations, parliamentary immunity and the doctrine of absolute privileged communications are not applicable.
Trillanes was proven many times in various libel suits that he is a big liar – he’s free gallavanting around only because he can well-afford the fines! Why then Morales sympathize with him and also connive with the lies against Binay if she’s not a political prostitute – allowing herself to be used by the one who appointed her and discredited the late Chief Justice Renato Corona?
