The only common interest that President Rodrigo Duterte and Vice President Leni Robredo has is Bongbong Marcos – with Robredo blocking Marcos and Duterte rehabilitating his return. If the only problem is Marcos’ intention in going back to power, then it will not be a big thing to deal with. In the first place, Duterte was not interested to be president but it became too obvious that he wanted Bongbong Marcos to be president. Thus the reason for him running onhis behalf since Marcos’ reputation has now been tainted with the martial law media propaganda during his father’s reign.
Loyalists of the Liberal Party should have rejoiced already when Robredo won against Marcos despite the fraudulent activities reported against the yellow camp – but this is not enough. It seems that the bigger picture is yet to be disclosed. The Liberal leaders seem to be nervous at present stage that made them not submit their SOCE on time that almost jeopardized Leni Robredo’s V.P. seat.
Criticisms from Robredo’s camp might be valid that she is always excluded by Duterte from all relevant events – thus putting more weight into the speculations that the incoming administration is on to something bigger than giving Bongbong Marcos a cabinet post. Could it be that the actual plan really is to install Marcos into the presidency at any cost? It is indeed something to think about.
