Richard Heydarian, a De la Salle political science professor, is certain that the Binays headed of course by outgoing Vice President Jejomar Binay would still play a role in local politics and would remain in full force.
He doubts that for the Binay main man Jojo, perhaps running for a national position would not be feasible anymore but somebody from the Binay sibbling could be the future bet in the country’s top government positions. Abby Binay for example is a potential bet for a post in a national level.
Their regaining authority in Makati which is a powerful commercial district that helps in supporting LGUs or other cities through the city’s Makati Sister Cities program initiated initially by Jojo Binay himself – that ran through the years of his political career and will resume running once Abby assumes office as mayor – remains to be the strenght of the Binays on the Filipino masses. It was stopped temporarily by Kid Pena who replaced Junjun Binay by force for 8 months. The people of Makati voted unanimously for Abby during the recent election – that triggered Kid to cry out fraud despite the clear evidence.
