Former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo filed a motion in the Sandiganbayan to dismiss the cases against her with regards to the $329- million National Broadband Network deal with Zhing Xing Telecommunications Equipment, Inc. or ZTE of China, claiming that the prosecution failed to show evidences of guilt during trial as required by law to be pursued.
The former President according to President-elect Rodrigo Duterte is a victim of slow justice. Despite not seeing any proof of guilt, the case just hang in there without further trial – and no decissions whatsoever is seen coming.
PGMA’s lawyers Laurence Arroyo and Jesi Howard Lanete, filed a motion for leave to file demurrer to evidence on the charge of violating Section 3(g) and 3(i) of Republic Act 3019, the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, and Section 7(d) of RA 6713, the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.
