While Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez has been too busy fighting off the inclusion of political prostitutes in the PDP-Laban’s super majority faction in congress – he is nurturing one in the process! Alvarez’s efforts to give way to the President’s wishes and not the mandate of the people as democracy dictates, created the existence of Duterte’s political prostitutes. The Liberal party is now struggling into the Minority minority position because of UNA’s stronger setup – but it does not mean that when UNA bags the title, they will just swallow what the majority group wants. Whether it is UNA or the Liberal party getting the minority title, there will always be opposition as per the concept of democracy.
However, Solicitor General Jose Calida’s stint to discredit Senator Leila de Lima has now getting below the belt especially after the international South China Sea ruling where de Lima was a part of the winning delegation to the Hague. When the senator proposes a probe to investigate the illegal drugs related killings, Calida immediately back fired into de Lima to investigate her of his alleged involvement with the drug Lords at Bilibid. This behavior of Calida is totally unacceptable in a democratic government.
Meanwhile, the likely Senate President Koko Pimentel commented that there’s nothing to investigate about with regards to de Lima’s Bilibid prison involvement. This triggered Duterte’s supporters into criticizing Senator Pimentel and questioned his giving de Lima an important role in the senate. The question is, how many of the 16 million Duterte supporters knew about the nature of democracy? If you are riding on the media propaganda against de Lima by sharing her alleged made up sex scandal and edited karaoke with drug lords images then, you are also supporting Duterte’s political prostitutes as because you gain temporary excitement by humiliating a political figure.
