Onychomycosis or the fungal infection of the finger or toe nails that manifesrs with thick, brittle, peeling or discolored nails, is not only unpleasant but also painful. This can be remedied with form medicinal liquids, solutions and creams that are applicable externally but directly into the nail and other affected skin.
Common topical antifungals include clotrimazole (brand name Lotrimin® AF), miconazole (Micatin®) and terbinafine (Lamisil®). Because they do not penetrate the nail, they work best on infections of the skin or nail surface, such as athlete’s foot.
