Senator Leila De Lima described President Rodrigo Duterte’s allegations that she is involved in the illegal drugs trade through alleged driver-lover as exaggerated, distorting her and made the president a liar!
She also said that the house in Pangasinan that she allegedly gave to her driver, is not hers. In her recent press conference, she commented that the president committed an abuse and misuse of powers the way he was naming and shaming her.
This speculated character assassination allegedly launched by Duterte against De Lima is suspected to malign the senator’s credibility as she is scheduled on Monday and Tuesday to preside over a Senate inquiry on extra-judicial killings under the Duterte administration.
Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo dared De Lima to deny the said allegations made by the president against her and she counter dared the solicitor saying this; “I have been denying those malicious allegations many times in the past. So, I’m denying it again. That’s an absolute lie. That’s completely false! I would never do that because I’ve never betrayed my oath as a public servant and I don’t intend to betray my oath as a public servant, especially my mandate with the people,” she added. Therefore, she may touch on the issue during her next press conference probably mid week.
