DAVAO – Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte stood firm that the city must “not be terrorized” by the blast that ripped through the city’s popular night market Friday evening.
“We will not be terrorized by this heinous crime and I call on all Dabawenyos to unite and let us help each other rise from this senseless incident,” Sara Duterte said as she extended her condolences to the victims’ families.
Duterte assured Davao residents that the city government will provide assistance for the “hospitalization, burial, funeral, and day-to-day expenses” of those killed or injured in the explosion that took the lives of at least 14 people, and left over 60 people injured.
The Davao mayor also issued a two-pronged reminder for local officials to “stay within the bounds of their official duties”, and for the public to “remain vigilant and to report any and all suspicious activity, no matter how insignificant it may seem.”
