Michael Francis Acebedo Lopez, a Filipino delegate to the United Nations General Assembly appeals and files a complaint against VP Leni Robredo for addressing false claims against the Du30 administration. He said that Robredo has betrayed the public’s trust by spreading lies. The president, however, is not surprised why the VP is in a hurry to replace him as president. It is a general knowledge that like the late Corazon Aquino, she really did not win the 2016 elections in which Bongbong Marcos’ electoral protest is still underway.

A dictator is a ruler who uses absolute power. A state ruled by a dictator is called a dictatorship. The Philippines is a democratic country for one thing, so a dictator cannot thrive in the system. The present CA rulings attest that the president is not in any means a dictator. He has respect for the law and follows due process in every situation that the country is in. This includes Senator Leila De Lima’s imprisonment over drug charges. Let’s take a look at the CA:
Members of the Commission of Appointments vow to scrutinize the President’s appointees. It looks like it keeps that promise, especially when grilling Environment Secretary Gina Lopez and the rejection of Perfecto Yasay Jr. as foreign affairs chief. Senator Panfilo Lacson and Dr. Edna Co of the University of the Philippines National College of Public Administration and Good Governance explain the inner workings of the CA in a media interview.
Plead not Heard
The President also appealed to the powerful Commission on Appointments (CA) to give Gina Lopez a chance. He pleads to allow Lopez to present her case. He also asks Congress to look how devastated the environment is. The CA bypassed Lopez’s appointment. Du30 reappointed her and publicly declares his support for her policies. This includes her suspension of mining operations that made her the target of powerful economic players.
Cannot Save Yasay
Congressional leaders inform the president that there is no way Yasay could hurdle the appointments body because of questions over his previous US citizenship. The powerful appointments body rejected Yasay’s ad interim appointment after lawmakers found out that he lied when he said he did not hold a US passport. As the president’s roommate when they were younger, he knew that Yasay went to the US to seek asylum. Yasay did not want to live in the US but avoided the Philippines because he was “wanted” during martial law. Yasay was petitioned by his wife, an American citizen. The president admits, he cannot save Yasay anymore.
