[VIDEO]: The Fate Of The Furious Breaks Global Box Office Record. The Fate of the Furious has raced to the top of the box office chart – breaking an international record in the process. The eighth film in the action thriller franchise took an estimated $532.5m (£424.7m) globally over Easter weekend.

Box Office Hit: The Fate of the Furious

The high-octane eighth installment in the Fast and Furious franchise broke box office records last weekend when it sped to $532.5 million worldwide. This weekend’s smattering of low-watt newcomers don’t show signs of earning even a tenth of “Fate’s” opening weekend $100 million domestic earnings: http://variety.com/2017/film/news/box-office-fate-of-the-furious-unforgettable-1202347619/

Jerry Seinfeld

So, obviously, this is not an actual Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee episode featuring Vin Diesel and company. It’s Jerry Seinfeld rolling with the Fast Family through the magic of a few crudely edited trailers. Hilarity ensues. Surpasses Logan

At $115.4 million domestic, it is already the sixth biggest domestic grosser of the year (sorry, Fifty Shades Darker) and will likely surpass The Boss Baby ($121m as of today) to be in fifth place as of the end of today. It will end the weekend below only Beauty and the Beast (around $470m by Sunday), Logan ($222m), The LEGO Batman Movie ($174m) and just over/under Get Out ($170m by Sunday).  Yes, it’ll cross $200m domestic. Yes, it’ll end the month of May ahead of everything save Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 and maybe Logan. Beyond that, we’ll see. Big Hit in China

The film’s worldwide performance was boosted by exceptional patronage in China on the same weekend as other major markets. This is unlike the Force Awakens, which did not start screening there until many weeks later.  The Fate of the Furious’ three-day takings of $190m (£151m) in China is just mind-blowing.
