Danilo de la Fuente shows a document that recognizes human rights violations against him during Martial Law – hit in the chest and stomach in February 1982. This happens while in the custody of the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. Du30’s government refer to them as collateral damage and not Marcos’ victims as what some media feature. Bongbong Marcos said that the martial law payout is now the government’s jurisdiction.

[VIDEO]: Bongbong Marcos attests that the funds for the alleged martial law victims have long been sequestered by PCGG – they are only contesting those that are illegally taken from them.

4,000 Approved Claimants

De la Fuente is only one of the 4,000 approved claimants who compose the first batch of victims who receive the compensation today for the partial payout. They might suffer under the martial law authorities but there are many more direct personalities that should be blamed like Fidel Ramos who heads the military at that time – than the late president Ferdinand E. Marcos.

P100,000 Compensation

The Human Rights Victims’ Claims Board (HRVCB) decision comes a year before its mandate lapses on May 12, 2018. For De la Fuente, who joins the successful class suit against Marcos in Hawaii said that it’s not the P100,000 that makes the long wait worth it but the recognition.

Du30’s Reference

The president cannot directly blame the late Marcos for the martial law victims because he is also in the same situation at the present time. He is blamed for extra-judicial killings that are already rampant in marginalized areas since time immemorial – but got publicized only during his drug war.

Bongbong Marcos’ Say

Bongbong Marcos, on the other hand, insists that the funds for the payout are already sequestered by the PCGG from their family many years ago – but the release of the money is dependent only on the government that decides on it. They only block the liquidation of illegally confiscated family properties like the paintings, mansion, and the personal jewelry collection of his mother, Imelda Marcos.
