[VIDEO]: The House committee on good government and public accountability cites in contempt and detains Genedine Jambaro, a staff member of the Ilocos Norte provincial treasurer’s office, after failing to properly answer the questions of Majority Leader Rodolfo Fariñas. Jambaro is the first of 6 Ilocos Norte officials cited in contempt on May 29.
The Staff’s Appeal
Governor Imee Marcos, staff Jambaro appeals for a reconsideration but not granted, unless she answers yes or no. She said that she cannot do it because the document shown is not the original. This irritates Fariñas and commented that it cannot be found anymore because the Capitol of Imee Marcos steals it already.
One of the employees’ legal counsels, Da Vinci Crisostomo said that to detain them at the House Legislative Building “was not right.” “One ground for contempt is ‘refusal to answer any question.’ However, in the transcript, answers are given to all questions. Fariñas just doesn’t like them. This is despite how he intimidates them with real threats.
Officials in Contempt
The House Committee cites in contempt and detained six officials on good government and public accountability during its probe into the alleged misuse of P66.45 million in tobacco funds to buy motor vehicles. Governor Marcos also receives a subpoena to appear in July.
The video shows a Trillanes-like approach in interrogating Jambaro during the Binay Blue Ribbon hearings. This is sad given that the interrogator is from the president’s party. The Du30 and Marcos alliance is tested her. Imee and Bongbong Marcos likely gets the favor of the president. Is Fariñas trying to break the alliance?
