FASO and Maharlika have their own rights to express their sentiments on some political issues. That’s freedom of speech. The only thing that is odd is the attempt to maliciously implicate Bongbong Marcos’ name on news reports on the conflict. What is the purpose of implicating him to such publicity?

Binibining Maharlika

Maharlika is a blogger based in Los Angeles. She allegedly politicizes the FASO event after VP Leni Robredo attended its gala dinner. She suspects that FASO is secretly raising funds for Robredo. Just because Maharlika is an avid supporter of Bongbong Marcos does not make this conflict a direct Robredo-Marcos sanctioned strategy.

FASO’s Event

FASO’s primary purpose for the awards dinner and gala was to recognize Filipino Americans who are excellent in the musical arts. Their generous volunteer service to the orchestra is also appreciated. The event aims to raise funds for its projects. Music workshops for young members and complimentary public concerts that feature classical music, traditional and contemporary Philippine music are its main outreach programs.

Accusations

Maharlika allegedly published her accusations against FASO and posted video material and photos of the event. She also includes photos of the Board of Directors of FASO and some guests during the gala event. A commentary on the issue was also displayed that offended FASO.

Pro-Bongbong Marcos Rally

Maharlika, with some supporters, gathered at the venue of the association’s event and criticized FASO. Guests who were en route to the activity were alarmed. Their group featured an intimidating pro-Marcos banner which is freedom of expression under a democratic law. If Maharlika is guilty of libel, then it’s FASO’s right to sue her. Why involve Bongbong Marcos?
