Loyalists Remember Bongbong Marcos during China’s Anniversary Event

Anniversary

welcome By: Elena Grace Flores

Loyalists at a Bongbong Marcos Facebook page remember how he continued his father’s legacy in forging relationships with China. Marcos was at the 66th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China Celebration. At this time of writing, it is still not confirmed if he is also in attendance for the 68th Anniversary event recently. However, the country’s relationship with China keeps Philippines safe from North Korea’s missile threat whose leader Kim Jong-Un is furious with America.

Cape Town Celebration

“For 68 years, the Chinese people have shaken the shackles of poverty by becoming the second-largest economy in the world.” These were the words of Consul-General Kang Yong at the Cape Town celebration of the 68th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Kang Yong welcomed more than 100 guests at the Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel. Its attendance includes Mayco members, members of the Cape Winelands municipality and the Chinese community.

Independent Foreign Policy

As he assumed control of the government, Philippine President Rodrigo Du30 announced that his administration would pursue an “independent foreign policy.” This pronouncement inspired debate on what an independent foreign policy actually means, especially in the context of the Asia-Pacific where there are tensions in the disputed South China Sea (SCS).

China Recognizes the President’s Plans

The new Philippine ambassador to China, Jose Sta. Romana provided a more detailed explanation of the elements in Du30’s independent foreign policy against the backdrop of the current dynamics of international affairs. It is the most comprehensive account of an independent foreign policy to come from a Du30 administration official thus far.

Practical Diplomacy

Detractors criticize the President for developing business relations with China and bad-mouthing the US. He even introduced Bongbong Marcos there as the new Vice President if he wins the electoral protest against Leni Robredo. If you think of it, Du30 is actually imposing a practical diplomacy. Since China tolerates North Korea’s missile tests by their continued gasoline supply, Kim Jong-Un won’t turn his fury on the South China Sea or the West Philippine Sea despite the country’s long-time alliance with the US. Perhaps, that’s the reason why Guam is the target and Hokkaido in Japan serve as their testing ground.
