Gov. Imee Marcos expresses her dismay over the no election speculation of the opposition for 2019. She suspects that this is the way of the anti-administration stalwarts to mislead the public on the charter change issue. The governor added that this can be the cause of the low approval rate of Federalism in the recent survey. President Du30’s political enemies are allegedly using the term extension scenario to demonize the Filipino leader.

[VIDEO]: Duterte wants new ‘transition president’ after the federal constitution ratified

TIRED.’ President Rodrigo Duterte says he wants a ‘younger’ leader to take over the transition to a Federal government. He asks the congressional committee to make him stop being the president by having an election in 2019 for transition leaders. This cuts 3 years of his term. Gov. Marcos reminds her listeners that the president is already ” kapoy” or tired the Visayan dialect.

[VIDEO]: There’s another looming showdown between the two houses of Congress, as Senate President Tito Sotto thumbs down the idea of House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez to launch a “people’s initiative” campaign to suspend next year’s polls and push for charter change. Gov. Marcos is also against this move. It is where 12% of the registered voters are to sign for a no election scenario to give way to the Federalism switch. A supreme court ruling may not allow this to happen.

[VIDEO]: UP Diliman chancellor sounds alarm on ‘Con-ass’

The head of the University of the Philippines-Diliman rejects a plan to let lawmakers revise the charter through constituent assembly (con-ass) and pave the way for a shift to a federal system of government. A UP Diliman chancellor wants the Congress to study Federalism in a long period of time. A massive public campaign is also needed for the people to understand, he said. He also expresses his fear of no-el or no election that the lady governor strongly disputes.

Con-Con

The Con-Con’s mode of amending the Constitution would not only concentrate on restructuring the government but could open the doors to an overhaul of the Cory Constitution considering its many flaws.  the 1987 Constitution, developed by delegates chosen by the late President Cory Aquino, was a reactionary charter. The delegates gathered just after the alleged 20-year dictatorship of the late strongman President Ferdinand Marcos. In fact, the University of the Philippines Law Center identified at least 27 flaws in the Constitution that must be amended to conform to the needs of the times.

The Election Challenge

The President challenges the “wannabe” presidents and mentions Vice President Leni Robredo most especially. The transitory election in 2019 is a good measure of the people’s choices. The governor of Ilocos Norte who is the sister of Bongbong Marcos, Robredo’s protestant in the 2016 VP race is agrees with the President. There must be an election in 2019 where legitimate voters can vote on their preferred President and Vice President. That would also settle the dispute in the second highest position of the land.
