President Rodrigo Du30 revokes the grant of amnesty to Senator Antonio Trillanes IV for failure to comply with its minimum requirements, Malacanang said. Consequently, The Department of Justice and the Armed Forces’ court-martial were instructed to “pursue all criminal and administrative cases” against Trillanes over military uprisings in 2003 and 2007, according to a copy of Du30’s proclamation, which was confirmed by Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra. The rebellious Senator is so sure that his demise is the work of SolGen Jose Calida who acts as the terminator for the administration’s foes. Calida has been instrumental for the removal of former Supreme Court Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno. Then, he filed a manifestation backing the 50% ballot shading threshold that favors the interest of former Senator Bongbong Marcos on his electoral protest against the presumptive VP Leni Robredo.

Senator Trillanes Failed to Comply

With Senator Trillanes’ failure to comply with the minimum requirements, the amnesty grant is declared void. Moreover, As stated in the proclamation, “The grant of amnesty to former LTSG Antonio Trillanes IV under Proclamation No. 75 is declared void ab initio because he did not comply with the minimum requirements to qualify under the Amnesty Program.”

Arresting the Rebel

Now, both the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police are tasked to apprehend Senator Trillanes. Trillanes has criminal and administrative charges in relation to the Oakwood Mutiny of 2003 as well as the Manila Peninsula incident of 2007.  Trillanes is to be recommitted back to the PNP Custodial Center with both the PNP and the AFP to employ all lawful means.

Pnoy’s Amnesty

It was Pnoy who granted amnesty to Trillanes by signing Proclamation No. 50 back in October 2010. Consequently, Trillanes led the Oakwood mutiny in 2003 and the Manila Peninsula siege in 2007 against Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s administration.

Blaming SolGen Calida

Consequently, Trillanes is questioning the legal effect of the EO and attributes it to SolGen Calida. Moreover, he had repeated conflicts with Calida. Furthermore, Aquino’s proclamation allegedly concurred with by the Congress. However, Guevarra says that for Proclamation No.572, the Congress concurrence is not needed because it was void ab initio.

Just a Matter of Time

Trillanes holds the timing as questionable. Consequently, the Senate is set to investigate on an issue that implicates SolGen Calida. Furthermore, he continues that President Du30’s timing in Israel that coincides with the Palace order is very suspicious. He suspects that the President pretends to have no knowledge about his fate. Trillanes presumes that his arrest is the work of Calida to the President’s delight. Perhaps, just in time for the upcoming Marcos takeover.
