Outgoing Vice President Jejomar Binay was deeply saddened by the death of former Senator Ernesto Maceda. His service to the nation was highlighted by Binay saying; “Manong Ernie served the nation in various capacities and lived through historic moments in our nation’s history, mostly as an active participant but never as a spectator. Manong Ernie will be sorely missed by his family, his friends in government and politics, and those who valued and appreciated his work for the nation,” Binay said in a statement.
Malacañang also sent condolences to the family of the late Maceda. Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said in a statement: “We extend our condolences to his bereaved family and join his bereaved family in fervent prayers for his eternal repose,”
Coloma said Maceda distinguished himself as a “legislator, Cabinet member and ambassador through more than five decades of dedicated public service.”
Maceda was 81 years old at the time of his passing last Monday night. Multiple organ failures attributed to his death at ripe age.
