Bongbong Marcos has to be careful with the sub-judicial rule not to disclose the merit of the case to the public as per the Supreme Court resolution. Nonetheless, he breaks the silence of his electoral protest against the presumptive Vice President Leni Robredo. This was during the interview with Erwin Tulfo. He said that the Supreme Court must make decisions on various issues following the en banc proceedings. Earlier, he accompanied her sister, Governor Imee Marcos to file her candidacy for Senator.

Feeling Nostalgic

In a tweet, Bongbong Marcos once again thanked Tulfo and everyone who joined by sending their comments. I think I might have a shot in a career as a “love doctor,” he said after advising a caller to move on with regards to his love affair. He also reminisced that he filed his candidacy for Senator in 2010. Eight years later, her sister did the same. So he couldn’t help but feel nostalgic when his Manang Imee asked him to accompany her to the COMELEC.

COMELEC Appearance

Bongbong Marcos accompanied his sister Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos as she seeks a Senate seat in the May 2019 midterm elections. The governor has urged for the immediate one-year suspension of the value-added tax (VAT) on basic food commodities, fuel, and electricity. This is to address the skyrocketing inflation in the country. Her brother agrees with this and also called on the government to bring back the Oil Energy Stabilization Fund (OSF). This was used by his late father, President Ferdinand Marcos to cushion the high prices of petroleum products, particularly gasoline.

Supreme Court Decisions

The Supreme Court (SC) en banc, sitting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET), has voted to do away with ballot-shading thresholds in an electoral protest over results of the 2016 elections for Vice President. The electoral tribunal’s real ruling is that there is no need to decide the correct percentage. What will matter is ballot appreciation by the revisors. However, the former Senator said that the high court must decide to count or not those ballots that do not reach the 50% mark. This is just one of the many decisions that the PET has to address to.

No to Election Returns

The camp Marcos opposes the Presidential Electoral Tribunal’s use of decrypted ballot images and the tribunal’s insistence on reverting to electronically generated election returns in the ongoing election protest over the alleged massive cheating in the 2016 vice presidential polls in Camarines. If realized, this will defeat the purpose of the recount which should be done manually.

Wrap Up Election Hearings

There are groups that call on Senate President Tito Sotto and Senator Dick Gordon. They have started the inquiries. All they have to do is wrap up the hearings on the problems encountered during the 2016 elections. The lawmakers must be more aggressive in having all the necessary safeguards in place to ensure the conduct of clean, honest and credible elections in 2019. Smartmatic and its co-conspirators, in and out of the Commission on Elections, must never again be allowed to make a mockery of the country’s electoral process.
