Great Britain amongs all super powers is both involved in the Sabah claim and the oil spills in the Gulf Coast. It keeps mum over both issues. In 1658 the Sultan of Brunei gave away the north and eastern part of what is now Sabah to the Sultan of Sulu after the latter helped the Sultan of Brunei quell a rebellion in Brunei. In June 22, 1878 a contract was signed between the Sultanate’s Sri Paduka Maulana Al Sultan Mohammad Jamalul Alam as “owner and sovereign of Sabah” and Gustavus Baron de Overbeck and Alfred Dent, representing the British East India Company that was later named the North Borneo Company as the “lessee” of North Borneo. Up to this date, Malaysia is still paying the lease put refused to admit that Sabah belongs to the Sulatanate of Sulu therefore a Philippine territory.
On the other hand, in connivance with then former oilman George W. Bush and Vice President, Dick Cheney, oil tycoons justify far higher oil prices citing the petroleum scarcity crisis myth that is non-existent. Obama and British Petroleum continue to hide that reality nowadays. According to a report from Washington investigative journalist Wayne Madsen; ‘the Obama White House and British Petroleum are covering up the magnitude of the volcanic-level oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico and working together to limit BP’s liability for damage caused by what can be called a ‘mega-disaster.’ ’ Madsen cites sources within the US Army Corps of Engineers, FEMA, and Florida Department of Environmental Protection for his assertion.”
Despite being quiet about these two circumstances, Great Britain knew quite well that the Philippines owns the oil-rich Sabah but also guilty about the oil spill disaster in the Gulf Coast – therefore, since a connivance is ongoing between the British government and Obama, they are seen making amends through their support in the United Nations Tribunal ruling on Scarborough Shoal and other territorial disputes between the Philippines and China.
