Surviving a Broken Heart

Mamma Mia! – Mamma Mia (Here I Go Again): Donna (Meryl Streep) sings about her ex-boyfriends. As one looks back, the biggest blow on love to those who are likely to find it in early life actually sets one’s purpose in life. Donna in Mama Mia might be a bit bitter on Sam (Pierce Brosnan) but as strong as she is, she continues with life. Only to find out later on that no one replaces his love. He’s still the beginning and the end. The rest is a mere survival strategy. Making the most of what’s available and be the best under the circumstance sets one’s life apart from the many who still wonder what happiness is actually about.

Finding One’s Self is the Key to Love

As one viewer puts it; I think Donna Sheridan is someone all young women should look up to as a fictional heroine. She is a strong woman. She leaves home and graduates college and then moves to an island all by herself away from her family and hometown. Then she meets three men who are very nice but, they don’t treat her right. She ends up pregnant and basically alone. She is left to raise her daughter and take care of the defunct hotel. It’s great that she doesn’t let men control her and push her around. She seems to wear her heart on her sleeve. A very strong-willed individual.

Versatile Actress

Oscar-winning actress Meryl Streep is one of the most esteemed stars of the screen, known for her work in such diverse films as ‘Sophie’s Choice,’ ‘The Devil Wears Prada,’ ‘Mamma Mia!’ and ‘Doubt.’. she again showed off her vocal abilities as Donna in the film adaptation of the ABBA musical Mamma Mia! (2008). Streep later reprised her role in the sequel: Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (2018).
