In the beginning, it can be believable that VP Leni Robredo is innocent with such election frauds allegedly perpetrated by her political party. However, the point that she let her lawyer, Atty. Macalintal’s stands in the electoral protest filed against her by Bongbong Marcos dictate her every move is a manifestation that she allows herself to be used. Take it into consideration that she is also a lawyer. She cannot blame it on LP or Macalintal later on when she needs to concede to Marcos. Besides, she’s very vocal demonizing the former Senator and swears to block him by all means. Her credibility is definitely on the line.

SC Must Not Permit Free-Riding
“With all due respect, since Robredo did not contribute any share in the expenses and supplies for the undertaking, it is unfair, unjust and inequitable that she was allowed by the PET to obtain soft copies of the decrypted images of the ballots, election returns, audit logs and other relevant documents for the pilot protest,” Marcos’ motion stated. Robredo must also shoulder the expenses for the decryption process, he added.
To have copies of the documents for both parties is standard practice in the spirit of transparency and fairness, Macalintal said. The soft copies can surely help both parties to protect their rights. However, in the spirit of decency, Robredo should have paid a part of the cost.
Grave Error by the SC
“With all due respect, this Honorable Tribunal committed a grave error when it allowed Robredo to secure decrypted copies of the ballot images, election returns, audit logs and other relevant documents,” Marcos said on his December 4 motion. This wrong move by the PET coincides with the suspicion. There’s apparently an LP force that delays the process in the Supreme Court. Robredo simply rides along with it. Besides, the en banc is not only one justice’s decision. The recount in February 2018 puts her credibility at risk.
The Ilocos’ 6 freedom is not going to happen anytime soon. Gov. Imee Marcos’ writ of Amparo plea is initially raffled to Associate Justice Diosdado Peralta by the Supreme Court. He administered former First Lady Imelda Marcos and Bongbong Marcos oath of office as Ilocos Norte congresswoman and senator, respectively. Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno and Justice Andres Reyes Jr. also inhibited from the case. No reason was provided by the high court about their inhibition.

No Immediate Release
Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos and the six detained officials of the provincial government failed to secure immediate relief from the Supreme Court against the Congress’ inquiry into the Capitol’s alleged misuse of tobacco excise tax funds.
The petitioners resort to the Supreme Court to issue a temporary restraining order on the probe initiated by the House committee. The next hearing is on July 25. The petitioners also asked the SC to assume jurisdiction over the writ of habeas corpus case. It is urged to order the release of the six employees and also issue a writ of Amparo “given the cruel treatment and violation” of their right to be free.
Imee Marcos accused the respondent-House leaders of committing grave abuse of discretion and violating the resource persons’ constitutional rights. This happened during a legislative inquiry. She said that local politics was behind the House inquiry that points to his family’s rivalry with the clan of Rep. Rudy Farinas.
Support the Ilocos 6
The other petitioners in the plea are the detained employees, namely, Josephine Calajate, Encarnacion Gaor, Genedine Jambaro, Evangeline Tabulog, Pedro Agcaoili Jr. and Eden Battulayan. Their family and work lives are interrupted because of some Congressmen’s show of power and influence. This must be stopped.
Teddy Atlas who has been on the field for 45 years concludes that boxing is a corrupt sport. He said that Jeff Horn displays great qualities as a budding boxer during the fight with Manny Pacquiao except his victory. Pacquiao is clearly robbed of the win. The new Welterweight title holder gets a lot of criticisms.

[VIDEOS]: Teddy Atlas speaks of his disappointment that Jeff Horn wins over Manny Pacquiao on the first video and Manny Pacquiao’s humble interview after the fight on the second video.
Great Robbery Fight
It is still a great fight not because it is fair but because there was drama. A 38-year old teacher who dreams of winning against the great Pacquiao proves that dreams can come true. Even if it is in the form of a highway robbery. Horn gets $ 500,000 against his opponent $10 M
Pacquiao understands the style of Horn but speaks strongly against the referee. Elbow contacts, head bang, and embraces could have been interfered by the referee but nothing was done. Figures don’t lie. 182 of Paquiao’s punches connected compared to 92 of Horn’s.
Trophy for Trying Hard
Atlas said to Horn to his face that he lost the fight to Pacquiao in Brisbane. He added that one gets the trophy for winning and not for trying. Horn respected his opinion but claims that he felt that on the 9th round, he was really winning.
Manny Pacquiao did not expect that Horn can survive all throughout. He intends to knock him out on the 9th round but he survived. Pacquiao admits that Horn is a tough guy but what’s really unexpected was his victory. As most experts say, it’s definitely a bad decision. People’s confirmation of Pacquiao’s evaluation that he is the right winner of the fight is good enough for him. He just wishes that boxing will not get a bad name out of this robbery fight.
House Majority Leader Rodolfo Fariñas’ natural evil nature is evident in the Congress during the hearings of the Ilocos Norte 6. Joined by his colleagues in the House, they all disregard their fellow lawmaker, Imelda Marcos citing a rule that is not applicable in the first place because only the court is the right venue for corruption allegations.

Rep. Rodolfo Farinas
Love Story in Hell
The then-mayor and former movie actress lived together in Laoag. Locals were fascinated by her. They were delighted by the presence of a celebrity. Maria did not have the slightest idea that her relationship with Fariñas was a living hell. As a political neophyte in 1983, he subjected his wife to domestic violence. She only disclosed her ordeal many years later. That her husband beat her up and apparently tortured her.
Manhandling the Wife
It was a center of gossips in the Ilocos Norte provincial hospital that Fariñas indeed abused his wife since the 1980s. A public report even came out in 1988 that quoted Fariñas’s nemesis. Then Vice Governor Rolando Abadilla was the source. In that report, Abadilla said that Fariñas was “angry” with him because he witnessed the latter manhandling his wife at the provincial capitol.
Enrile Witnessed Carlson’s Plight
Fariñas was to host a dinner for then Defense Minister Juan Ponce Enrile. Enrile was the honored guest at the city’s fiesta in February 1988. Abadilla escorted Enrile to the Capitol for the dinner. But Enrile hesitated to proceed to the venue. Incidentally, he too saw “Fariñas strangling Maria.” Enrile was not noticed by the couple. He left with Abadilla and proceeded to the Fort Ilocandia Resort Hotel instead. Fariñas was furious with Abadilla for “robbing” him the opportunity to host Enrile.
Late CJ Renato Corona’s Humiliation in Congress
Fariñas was known to castigate the late Chief Justice Renato Corona. The discrepancies of his SALN was not new to all politicians. Still, he did not give Corona the benefit of the doubt. He refers to all his defenses as scapegoats. Knowing the nature of Fariñas, Enrile constantly criticizes all his comments about Corona. It looks like he did not gain the wisdom of old age unlike the notable Enrile and the truly compassionate at heart, former first lady Imelda Marcos.
Leni Robredo cannot easily convince Filipinos that she fights for real democracy. The recount for the VP race is not yet on the horizon because of her alleged delaying tactics. She may mean well but it is just too obvious that she does not have in depth understanding about certain issues. Like she attacks the president’s drug war, suggests to decriminalize it when she has no clue about the difference between heroin and shabu. The latter can really mess up an addict’s head.

[VIDEO]: Franco Mabanta brilliantly demolished Leni Robredo in 6 minutes
Robredo insinuates that she sees that the country’s institutions are eroded. They are weakened, she said. It is not certain if she refers to the Congress’ dealings with the martial law. Or perhaps the Supreme Court’s nod to rival, Bongbong Marcos with regards to the three commissioners he pleaded for in his electoral protest against her.
In the summit that aims to boost support for the fight against threats to democracy, Robredo expresse her concerns that alleged online propaganda is already very powerful. Drug war data are corrupted and fake news somewhat dominates the scene, she observes. There’s no realization at all that social media can only be powerful when there are real people manning them.
Robredo is right to say that Filipinos should rise above disagreements and “build bridges of understanding. In extraordinary times and if differences are not set aside, the country would not stand a chance,” said the VP. However, actions speak louder than words. She and her co-party members continue to discredit their political enemies in every way they can. This is on the verge of bringing up the dead to destroy the son who can be a very promising president in the near future.
“Let us build bridges of understanding, not walls. Let us bury our egos and our pride and let empathy rise. Let us not just think of a democracy as a concept but as a means to lessen the suffering of the poor,” she added.
