President-elect Rodrigo Duterte wanted the police to focus on resolving narcotics problems and their roots, according to the PNP spokesperson. As he pointed it out in his recent speech among supporters criticizing human rights campaigners for their stupidity in trying to block his campaigns, as he expressed his retribution theory for his planned operations.
He invisioned his initial period in office after Thursday’s inauguration with heavy focus on his fight against crime. He called their acts stupid after they scrutinize his late-night curfews strategy and the plan to reintroduce death penalty. He was quoted as saying; When you kill someone or rape, you should die,” the President said.
During the presidential campaign, Duterte warned the Philippines saying that it is endangered of becoming a narco-state. He vowed to kill tens of thousands of criminals by giving security forces the shoot to kill orders – which human rights advocates are stopping – fearing that the killings will violate human rights and the rule of law.
