Good or Bad Omen: Late Marcos’ Painting at Robredo’s New Office

welcome By: Elena Grace Flores
Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista, who was responsible of overseeing the renovation of the former ‘Boracay Mansion’ into the present QC Executive House that will be the future office of incoming Vice President, Leni Robredo explains that the Jose Blanco piece of the late Ferdinand E. Marcos depicting his heroism as a soldier is a work of art – that’s why it was hanged there in the first place.

If you are not an art enthusiast, it is easy to overlook it despite its enormous size. Painted by Jose Blanco as commissioned by the late President Ferdinand E. Marcos, the masterpiece depicts Marcos as a heroic soldier. This is only one of the few examples of the truth trying to surface even if suppressed by many.

Bautista was also an officer of the Kabataang Barangay which was headed by Imee Marcos many years ago. KB’s ideals are now carried out by Sangguniang Kabataan. That should further explain its existence in the house.
