President Bongbong Marcos summons Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian. This was about the incident in the West Philippine Sea. A Chinese vessel directed its military-grade laser at a Philippine Coast Guard ship. Malacañang says the president expressed serious concern over the increasing frequency and intensity of actions of China against the PCG and Filipino fishermen. The Chinese Embassy confirmed this meeting. It said that the Filipino President and the ambassador discussed how to properly manage maritime differences. Manila calls the laser-pointing incident an act of aggression. It has filed another diplomatic protest against Beijing. President Marcos would exhaust all diplomatic solutions so as not to escalate the US-China conflict. The Americans expressed their full support to the Philippines recently along with Japan.
