Sandiganbayan granted the motion of former Makati City Mayor Jejomar Erwin “Junjun” Binay to go to the United States for his daughter’s immunologist consultation. “The Court, over the prosecution’s opposition, hereby resolves to grant accused permission to travel abroad to Los Angeles, California, United States of America (USA) to accompany his daughter on her appointment with immunologist Dr. Ricardo Tan,” the resolution reads pertaining to the decision.
Binay is leaving the country on Aug. 15 and will return not later than Aug. 24 following a limited itinerary to Los Angeles, California only as designed by the court. P680,000 was travel bond that must be paid before he leaves.
This is in response to the motion submitted by Binay to the Sandiganbayan’s Third Division, asking the Court to allow him to travel to the US with his six-year-old daughter for an appointment with allergologist and immunologist Dr. Ricardo Tan to seek second opinion on his daughter’s staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome which is an uncommon disease – as advised by their local pediatrician.
The anti-graft court specified that Binay’s failing to comply with the conditions set in the resolution, would mean forfeiture of his bail and travel bond and the issuance of a warrant for his arrest would immediately follow.”
