Marcos Turned Down: NBOC Mandated to Tally Votes – Not act as Board of Inquiry

welcome By: Elena Grace Flores
As the official canvassing started in the afternoon of May 25, 2016 during the session, former Maguindanao Rep. Didagen Dilangalen, vice presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. lawyer, motioned for a separate canvassing of votes for president and vice president. He continued saying that presidential votes must be canvassed and the president to be proclaimed at the soonest possible time. However, Pimentel and Gonzales rejected this because only members of the panel are allowed to raise a motion and not a candidate’s legal counsel.

Gonzales reminded the panels that the National Board of Canvassers or NBOC for both the presidential and vice presidential posts should only certify the authenticity of the certificates of canvass and any protests for some COCs for that matter must not be entertained.

Resolving such cheating allegations of cheating is to be forwarded to the Presidential Electoral Tribunal instead.
