President Rodrigo Duterte is again misunderstood that he wants a sole power to declare Martial Law. Contrary to the criticisms, the president would rather not resort to it because there is no need. The country is not in chaos or there’s no anarchy unlike during the time of the late President Ferdinand E. Marcos. This is echoed by the son of Marcos, Bongbong in earlier interviews that there’s no need for Martial Law for the current situation.

Martial Law Brings Order but Misery to Law Breakers
Martial law instills discipline. Like what Senator Enrile said, it brings order into the country. Naturally, law-breakers suffer because they have to serve their punishments to stop them from staging further insurgencies. The logic is to suppress the criminals to give peace to the masses.
Lots of Protests but no Martial Law Cases Filed against Marcos
Anti-Marcos protesters can only resort to making noise along the streets and dragging young people with them who are actually not sure why they are demonstrating. Free legal fees cannot inspire them to fight through legal means because they cannot implicate Marcos which is the main intention of the party that they support.

Media is Having a Hard Time
President Duterte is quite frank that he’s playing with the media. You do not have to be a genius to understand him – but common sense is a must. It is also important to verify facts not to lose your credibility writing stories that he would deny later on. If he claims that he killed a kidnapper, better get a police report or any evidence that it really happened or else consider that a bluff! He is just making a strong point that he would not let a criminal go unscathed.
