[VIDEO]: PBBM will use the arbitral ruling at the South China Sea Dispute
Not a Claim
President Bongbong Marcos said that there’s no need to claim the islands in the South China Sea that are in conflict with the Chinese. Beijing so far did not honor the 2016 decision at the Hague. It insists that its historical claim has no basis. But Marcos said that he will use this as he tries to maintain bilateral relations with them.
Use of Arbitral Ruling
China claims almost all of the resource-rich waterway. Trillions of dollars in trade passes annually in these passages. The Philippines, Brunei, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Vietnam opposes China’s dominion over these areas. But the Chinese remain the bullies in this matter. The Philippines got the arbitral ruling during the younger Aquino administration. Marcos vows to use this.
Fight for Sovereignty Rights
President Marcos promised not to allow a single millimetre of maritime coastal rights to be trampled upon. He will assert the country’s rights with a firm voice. But not necessarily going to war against China. Because it’s the last thing we need right now.
