It is a fact that the country is in turmoil because of worldwide terrorism threats. Many pretend to be democratic fighters. But they are actually the ones taking advantage of the situation. Democracy is to hear the people’s voice. The delay of the electoral protest of Bongbong Marcos against Leni Robredo shows that public interest is hindered. Immediate recount is a sign that the country is under a democratic rule.

Defend Democracy Summit
About 200 people from various sectors gather for a summit entitled Defend Democracy Summit: “Pagtitipon at Paninindigan para sa Demokrasya at Kalayaan” on Independence Day. The event takes place at the UP Diliman School of Economics Auditorium.
Avenue for Confusion
The forum is allegedly an avenue “to listen, reflect, discuss, and define common action steps for national sovereignty, social justice, truth, and democratize institutions during theses challenging times.” However, the resource speaker is VP Leni Robredo herself whom her position as the second leader of the land is still questionable.
The forum is also attended by some Liberal Party members. They are noted for their justifying rebels, fraudulent election activities, and supporting a former President whose intention is just to block Bongbong Marcos from the executive office and not to serve the people at the highest of his ability.
Every Vote Counts
In a democratic country, every vote counts. Therefore, any effort made to expedite the VP post recount is a clear pro-democracy act. Only Bongbong Marcos’ camp is known for these strategies. The Supreme Court, Robredo’s camp, and the Comelec are all just applying some delaying tactics. So, what is there to convene for? Mislead the public?
