Leni Robredo was not appreciated by netizens when she went to Los Angeles, California to urge Fil-Ams to help poor Filipinos back home. Bashers even ridiculed the way she copied Imelda Marcos’ sense of style for her signature gown. Nevertheless, it is just a big contrast to asking for help wearing a high-society outfit similar to her arch-rival Bongbong Marcos’ mother.

Fundraising Gala
Vice President Leni Robredo traveled to Los Angeles, California to meet with some members of the Filipino-American community. She was a guest at the fundraising gala of the Filipino American Symphony Orchestra (FASO). It was held at the Mary Pickford Estate.
FASO not a Political Group
FASO said that the invite-only fundraising event was meant to help “sustain concerts and music education programs.” It is not a political group. What sparks criticisms on Robredo was her speech. Obviously, the event was for the elite who spare some of their money to charity. Perhaps she had a good intention to influence donors to also contribute in her alleged projects for the poor.
Malnutrition and Hunger
In her speech at the gala, the Robredo reiterated the importance of helping the country’s less fortunate. She claims that her office aims to do through its flagship program, Angat Buhay. She emphasized the need to address malnutrition and hunger. “Silent crises” as she puts it leads to 95 child deaths a day.
Marawi City Seige
She also mentioned the situation in Marawi City where the ongoing clashes between government troops and the Maute local terror group are. Relief operations for families in the evacuation sites in Iligan, Cagayan de Oro, and Marawi are organized. The VP really did have good intentions but her being anti-administration really adds up to her unpopularity that triggers bashing on social media.
