Working quarantine # 1 and 2
Senator Imee Marcos on Working from Home
Senator Imee Marcos works on three bills for the March 23 filing at the Senate. She is still on quarantine. Her asthma prevents her from attending the senate session. However, aside from filing three bills while on quarantine, the Senator urges the government to go “all out, all heart” in helping Filipinos respond to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Set Aside Emergency Powers First
Aside from the Pag-ASA: Alaga, Sustento at Pag-Angat that seeks immediate and sustained protection of health workers, provision of food and cash aid for marginalized communities, the Senator Imee Marcos also taps stimulus packages to badly hit industries employing millions of workers. She thinks that the President must not prioritize the emergency power yet because he has the power to realign resources that are not in use by many departments.
Don’t be Stingy: We have all the resources.
The Pag-ASA emergency package can be drawn from funds left over from the 2019 budget. These are from calamity funds in the 2020 budget. Intelligence and social funds of the Office of the President. PhilHealth’s emergency reserve fund and contingency funds from various departments. Namely; education, agriculture, labor and employment, social welfare and development, and public works and highways, Marcos said. Perhaps the Marcos loyalists know very well why Senator Marcos is keen in urging the government to take a loan from the world bank with almost 0 percent interest rate. This is a no brainer! Her father, the late President Ferdinand Marcos set it up for this kind of purpose! Will the Congress act on the Marcos’ gold for the welfare of humanity?
