Senator Nancy Binay’s Centenarian Bill Approved by Senate

welcome By: Elena Grace Flores
Senate Bill No. 449, also called the Centenarians Act of 2013 sponsored by Senator Nancy Binay was approved by the Senate and awaiting the signature of outgoing President Benigno Simeon Aquino III. September 25th must also be declared as“National Respect for Centenarians Day” according to the bill.

Senator Binay is making sure that the elderly are well taken cared of – knowing that Filipinos prefer to care for their oldies at home than in homes for the aged.

Binay is also the chairperson of the Committee on Social Justice, and she cited DSWD’s report showing the 3,533 centenarians data as of 2015 to get the Php 100,000 incentive. Lifestyle change is crucial to living a long and happy life according to the good senator – and our centenarrians would serve as models and inspirations to our society.
