The President may suspend government work and classes in Metro Manila on Sept. 21. This is amid plans by several groups to hold massive protests. This was the day of the late Ferdinand Marcos’ declaration of military rule. “I am announcing that I am ordering a holiday this early so that no one gets hurt,” Du30 said. The Palace will need to issue a proclamation to officially declare the said date a holiday or any date decided upon.

Martial Law Declaration Anniversary
Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said that the date of the holiday could be September 21. This is the anniversary of late President Ferdinand Marcos’ martial law declaration. Proclamation 1081 which is the declaration of martial law was announced on September 23, 1972. It was backdated to September 21 because of numerology.
Avoid Public Inconvenience
A coalition of groups called “Movement Against Tyranny” promotes its plan to stage massive demonstrations on September 21 to protest the administration’s drug war. This is their way of preventing the president to become tyrant or authoritarian. s the people’s President, Du30 puts the public’s welfare first. He does not want to inconvenient them.
Backing Up the Marcoses
Du30 is noted to be an ally of the Marcos political clan. He granted the Marcos family to bury the late President’s remains at the Heroes’ Cemetery in a private ceremony. He also declared September 11 a “special non-working day” in Ilocos Norte, the Marcos bailiwick. This is to mark the Marcos patriarch’s 100th birth anniversary.
Enemies are Panicking
The President’s political detractors particularly the Liberal Party politicians are worried about his intention to resign. This can happen once Bongbong Marcos assumes the Vice Presidency. His electoral protest against VP Leni Robredo continues. The recount is about to start. The Philippines may have a new VP at the end of the year.
Bongbong Marcos said that no arrangements are made yet with the government. He does not know how to go over the hand-over process as far as the wealth for humanity is concerned at this point. This update is known during their family get-together in Ilocos Norte for the Centennial celebration of their patriarch, the late President Ferdinand E. Marcos.

Communications Secretary Martin Andanar also said that he is not aware if President gets an invite to the gathering. “The Marcos family are entitled to their own event. If they want to celebrate the birth anniversary of former President Marcos, it’s up to them, he added. We’re not connected to the Marcoses,” Andanar said.
The Marcos family celebrates the birth centennial of the late president Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani on his birthday, Sept. 11. Ilocos Norte Rep. Imelda Marcos organizes the celebration. “It’s a family affair, plus friends and guests,” so to speak.
Ilocos Norte Holiday
Earlier, the President issued Proclamation 310. It declares the day as a non-working holiday in Ilocos Norte. This is in commemoration of Marcos’ 100th birth anniversary. Many anti-Marcos people are critical on this but since they found favor in the President’s eyes, they can’t do anything.
Right to Celebrate
Despite the criticisms received from detractors, the Marcoses express their sentiments that they have the right to celebrate the birth anniversary of their kin. This is everybody’s right. Lucky are those who are invited. The rest shall not sour-grape. Marcos loyalists are hopeful that in the future, it will be a nationwide holiday.
An anti-Marcos lawmaker reacts to an invitation of Ferdinand Marcos’ widow Imelda Marcos with disgust. The invite is to celebrate the late President’s 100th birthday anniversary at the Libingan ng mga Bayani on Sept 11. Netizens cannot fathom why most anti-Marcos are bitter to the dead. Just like VP Leni Robredo and the rest of the LP Senators or members.
“Yes, I did get an invite and puked on it!” said Akbayan Rep. Tom Villarin. He opposed the burial of Marcos at the heroes’ cemetery in Taguig City. The “Magnificent Seven” congressman shows reporters a copy of his invitation from fellow Representative, Imelda Marcos. He makes a mockery out of it.
The invitation states that a Mass will be held at 9:30 in the morning of September 11. This is to be followed by a short program and lunch. Villarin even said that the Marcos family, who offers to cooperate in the turnover of the wealth for humanity to the government in exchange for immunity, is “enjoying their heyday.” Actually, the Marcoses have yet to decide on it as per the President’s wisdom.
The President’s Support
“With President’s blessings and absolution of their sins, including his push for their immunity from prosecution, the Marcoses are enjoying their heyday since they were booted out by people power,” he said. “While Duterte and Marcos party in the Libingan, the blood of thousands killed by both of them cry out for justice! The day of reckoning will come and history will judge harshly those who kill the truth and our own humanity,” Villarin ‘s mockery continued.
Ilocos Norte Holiday
The President also declared Marcos’ birthday as a holiday in his home province Ilocos Norte. The transfer of the late Marcos’ remains from Ilocos Norte to the LNMB happened as approved by the Supreme Court amidst the uproar from the alleged victims of human rights violations during martial law. Du30 clarifies that ex-President Marcos did the right thing to save the country as he faces the same accusations from Marcos’ detractors.
