The Least Imee Marcos Can Do to Influence a Cash – Free Policy for Private Hospitals

By: Elena Grace Flores

Filipino voters are already aware of the important criteria for Senators. They must have the capability to create laws that would upgrade the people’s lifestyle. Gov. Imee Marcos seems to have that capability. In fact, the cash or gold scandals that her family faces compliments that. She champions a project that further addresses the demand for nursing employment opportunities. The Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte (PGIN) partners with BPO companies to provide online health care jobs to all registered nurses in the province. On top of that, she calls for all medicines to be exempted from value-added tax (VAT) as she pushes for a review of the cheaper medicines law. Marcos can certainly influence a remedy that would aid working Filipinos during medical emergencies. z

Oversupply of Nurses is Not a Problem with Imee Marcos

The Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte (PGIN) in partnership with Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) companies takes measures to provide employment opportunities for Ilocano nurses. This is in line with Marcos’ commitment to generate more jobs for the Ilocanos. Her influence is definitely the key to its success.

Removal of VAT from Medicines

Marcos, who runs for a Senate seat said Republic Act 9502 or the cheaper medicines law fails to make medicines more affordable. This is because certain provisions in the law favor the interests of big pharmaceutical companies in the country. Ten years after the law passes, the prices of medicines, particularly for critical diseases and illnesses remain exorbitant. She said that to drastically bring down the prices of medicines it is crucial to remove the VAT from all medicines.

The Failure of the Aquino Administration

In fairness of the Aquino administration, it launches the Universal Health Care (UHC). It gives provision to every Filipino of the highest possible quality of health care. That should be accessible, efficient, with fair funds or assistance, and appropriate for the public”. The former President puts ita availability and accessibility friendly for all Filipinos. His government aims to ensure that every Filipino shall receive affordable and quality health benefits. This should provide adequate resources – health human resources, health facilities, and health financing. But it fails greatly because of the poor mentality influence. Public hospitals are crowded. PhilHealth can only provide maximum of 20% off hospital bills. On top of that, private hospitals can be rude to patients when they run out of their insurance coverage.

Cash – Less Deals with Private Hospitals

The workforce needs quality health care assistance. This is the key to a progressive economy or population in general. A serious illness must not cripple a promising individual. Since the policies of private hospitals are not in line with the government’s provision, a medical funding facility for this purpose is necessary. This would allow cash – less deal with the private hospital involved.

Political Provisions during Elections

Politicians would surely allocate funds for medical purposes during elections in the Philippines. Although they are mediocre, at least they exist. However, Filipinos deserve more than that. A country can’t be powerful when a mere disease can make them bankrupt when it strikes. Australia and England, for example, accommodate expensive health procedures to their citizens with money for free. The government owes the progress of a nation to its people.

Health Tips from a Common Filipino to Bongbong Marcos

health
By: Elena Grace Flores

The country’s health care system is still far behind international standards. Bongbong Marcos’ vlog recently features a young Filipino lady’s situation. She signifies the plight of common Filipinos regardless of their financial status. While there are public hospitals for the indigents, the middle class is limited to their health cards from work. This goes to the rich as well. Once a chronic disease strikes, any reserves for medical purposes can easily run out. Such is a big flaw medically-speaking. All citizens must have the right to have access to the best suitable treatment with or without cash. z

[VIDEO]: Last weekend, I met a young woman who reminded me that difficulties are merely a matter of perspective. No feat would be too great to achieve with more Athenas in the world.

BBM’s Medical Mission

Bongbong Marcos’ medical mission in Binan, Laguna benefits 400 to 500 people. He also conducts a contest online asking subscribers to give the best health tips to a busy person like him. A hoodie is at stake for the lucky winners. Athena is one of the lucky contestants. Marcos looks forward to having more face to face interactions with ordinary citizens.

Athena Lives with Cerebral Palsy

Marcos’ promising guest, Athena, suffers from Cerebral palsy. It is a group of permanent movement disorders that appear in early childhood. She arrives at the meeting venue in a wheelchair. Despite her disability, she impresses the former Senator for her enthusiasm in life. She remains active contributor online and even writes a book.

Decent Health Care System for the People

Sickness or diseases are problems of the nation. This should not be solitary to the family of the affected patients. While public hospitals try to accommodate the low to medium class Filipinos, they can only provide hospital services. Medicines are out of the pocket or given by the local government if lucky. Employees with health cards enjoy the benefits of limited insurance. Not knowing that in the middle of a critical surgery, its coverage can be denied.

Appropriate Treatment With or Without Cash

It is understood that private hospitals must have deposits to be able to perform the necessary procedure needed by a patient. The government has no control over this because it is commercial. They cannot continue to operate if their business is losing. This is the same reason why medical establishments like hospitals must not be privatized. Citizens must have access to quality treatments with or without cash.

Health Tips to Bongbong Marcos

A busy person like BBM has nothing to worry about if he can sleep well at night. Philippine leaders who have the heart to serve their constituents can only have this privilege when their people can seek the appropriate medical services without worrying about money. All hospitals must pass the international standards for all citizens to avail of, rich or poor. Many people are banking on Bongbong Marcos to make this happen in the Philippines.

By: Elena Grace Flores

The Filipino boxing legend, Manny Pacquiao adds to his legacy and fuels hopes for a rematch with Floyd Mayweather. This is after outboxing Broner over 12 rounds. His defeat versus the latter was so controversial that this would garner more cash. Pacquiao already has the honor for being a great fighter. On top of that, a Chinese brand Anta Sports provides the boxing champ his attire. The logo is obvious during his every fight since their deal becomes final in November 2016. The Chinese brand certainly has a pretty good week right after that match. Back home, the great pride of the Philippines speaks in favor of medical marijuana that some Filipinos are still not ready to take. z

[VIDEO]: The Filipino boxing champ insinuates that his and Floyd Mayweather’s paths always crosses and that he has no problem with medical marijuana.

Not Just the Waray Connection

Pacquiao and Bongbong Marcos who is the VP Protestant against the presumptive VP, Leni Robredo have something else in common besides bearing the banner of the Nacionalista Party when the Senator joins the party in 2019 to 2010. They both trace their roots to Leyte . Their respective moms, Aling Dionisia Pacquiao, and former First Lady Imelda Romualdez-Marcos are proud Warays. Rumors have it that Pacquiao is also a top contender for Philippine presidential election, 2022 just like Marcos. President Rodrigo Duterte separately said that he intends to make either of them as his successor. The two politicians are also pro-Arroyo. So, it is unlikely that they would ever run against each other.

Mayweather Crosses Paths with Mayweather

It might be a coincidence that Manny Pacquiao always crosses paths with retired American boxer Floyd Mayweather. The first one was during the clash between the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers on January 22. Pacquiao and Mayweather met again the US this 2019. Last January 9, the two boxers met in the NBA’s Filipino Heritage Night. In Las Vegas, the American paid the Filipino boxer a visit ahead of his fight against 4-division world champion Adrien Broner. Mayweather also managed to watch his former opponent retain his World Boxing Association regular welterweight belt.

Medical Marijuana is Okay

President Du30 will support any bill that will seek the legalization of medical marijuana. Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo notes that Du30 has already made his stand on several instances favoring the legalization of medical marijuana. This goes the same with Pacquiao too who has nothing against it for as long as it is for medical .use.

Better Off Staying Retired

Pacquiao just unloads a verbal left straight on Mayweather’s jaw. With Mayweather still receiving harsh criticisms for feasting on a hapless and inexperienced Tenshin Nasukawa. This is during their exhibition bout last December. Meanwhile, Pacquiao impressively dispatched Broner, a fighter 11 years younger and a former four-division boxing champion. Pacquiao basically stated that he can still take on top-level opposition and that Mayweather is better off staying retired if he will just pick on newspaper boys.

Cash and Honor

Senator Pacquaio might like to prove that his previous defeat against Mayweather was unfair to him but he also can’t deny that loads of cash are at stake should a rematch realizes between them. The money from endorsements and other sponsorships may not be able to match that. On the other hand, Pacquiao remains honorable even without such an exhibition. He is one boxing icon that many professionals in his field support. As what his wife, Jinkee Pacquiao discloses, the possibility for both to be facing each other again inside the ring is only 5 between 1 to 10.

President Du30’s Strong Alliance Triumphs Over the Libelous Opposition Senator Trillanes

Senator

By: Elena Grace Flores

The police collect Senator Antonio Trillanes IV from the Senate and he has gone through the booking procedure already. This is after the Makati City Regional Trial Court Branch orders his arrest for the 2007 Manila Peninsula siege. Trillanes is facing a case for rebellion before Branch 150 Judge Elmo Alameda. The RTC allows a temporary freedom for the Senator after paying the Php 200,000 bail.  However, if the warrant for the Coup d’Etat from branch 148 comes out for the Oakwood mutiny, it is not anymore bailable under the court-martial. The former President Benigno Aquino III granted him amnesty without the proper documentation.

[VIDEO]: Atty. Trixie Cruz Angeles’legal insights on Senator Trillanes’ detention possibilities.

Arrest Warrant Ordered from Branch 150

A Makati court recently orders the arrest of Senator Antonio Trillanes IV. This is weeks after President Rodrigo Du30 voided his amnesty for his non-compliance to his amnesty’s conditions. It revives charges against him for the unsuccessful uprisings in 2003 and 2007.  The Makati Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 150, handles the rebellion case against Trillanes over the 2007 Manila Peninsula siege. Whereas, the branch 148 has the jurisdiction over Trillanes on the non-bailable Coup d’Etat case. It issued the arrest warrant 21 days after the issuance of the President’s Proclamation 572 that made the Navy officer’s 2011 amnesty void.

Hold Departure Order Against the Senator

The court, in a 2-page order by Judge Elmo Alameda, also bans the Senator from leaving the country without its permission. It sets bail at P200,000 for Trillanes’ temporary liberty. Police officers and court sheriff, Bong Carreon delivers the resolution to the Senate, where Trillanes seeks refuge since September 4. At the time of writing, the noisy lawmaker has paid his bail and now back at the Senate.

Revoked Amnesty

Early this month, the President issued Proclamation 572 that revokes the amnesty given to Trillanes for being void ab initio or void from the beginning. Proclamation 572 says Trillanes failed to submit an application form. Meaning, he did not admit his guilt in the crimes covered by the amnesty which is a requirement of the Presidential provision.

The DOJ’s Hand

With the amnesty revocation, the Department of Justice (DOJ) filed an ex-parte motion seeking a warrant of arrest and a hold departure order against Trillanes. The DOJ also asked the court to resume the trial with the prosecution presenting its evidence. It said that with the amnesty declared as void from the beginning, the dismissal of the case is also void. Therefore, the presumptive Vice President Leni Robredo is wrong when she said that the cases against him were already dismissed. This is because they can be reactivated once the amnesty is deemed unexistent.

The Court’s Decision Shows the Restoration of Democracy

Presidential Spokesperson Atty. Harry Roque stated that: “The court has spoken. As the President has said, we will respect the decision of the judiciary.” It is but natural for the opposition to use this incident for the benefit of their intentions. They again stressed that the administration’s actions are undemocratic. Contradictory to that, most Filipinos feel that democracy is actually restored. The lengthy process of his possible detention clearly follows the rule of law. Former Vice President Jojo Binay, Former Davao Vice Mayor Paolo Du30, Senators Richard Gordon, Manny Pacquiao, Migz Zubiri, and many other pro-administration stalwarts now start to see the fall of the most irritating detractor.
