Arroyo and Bongbong Marcos on Drug War: Crimes are Down by 10 Percent

drug war

welcome By: Elena Grace Flores

The truth on the President’s drug war comes out from the mouth of his allies. Bongbong Marcos and former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo are pro-administration politicians. Despite the claims of his detractors, statistics don’t lie. Crimes are down by 10 percent and that’s the fact. Now, people realize who the real liars are.

[VIDEO]: Former President and House Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo praises the President.

Awesome Leadership

Awesome leadership and results are the markings of the first year of President Du30, said the former President Arroyo. Sound decisions come from intelligence findings for every critical situation available to the leader only. He is able to focus on the reality of the problem than to the pieces of advice given that are not factual.

Foreign Affairs Alignment

Bongbong Marcos also gives credit to the President who is able to realign foreign affairs policies. He manages to resume the good relationship with China like how it was during the Marcos regime. On top of that, he also opens the doors to Russia while he keeps the United States on the side. Criticisms loom on his strategy but it is effective. Only a good leader can do that, Marcos said.

Real Drug War Data

Illegal drugs are still around. But Du30 is able to bring down the number of crimes by 10 percent. This is in the first 11 months of his administration. The data from the Philippine National Police shows that during the last quarter of 2016, the administration obtains a new quarterly record low in crime since 1989.

Human Rights

Rene Saguisag said that Du30 must respect human rights and dignity. Senator Leila de Lima echoes this. She accuses the president of false new against her. The Social Weather Stations survey on crime victims in January 2017 shows that 4.9 percent of families recently fall victims to any crime. The decrease in crimes comes at a price – the many deaths of alleged criminals.

What is extortion with Consent?: Cases of Budol-budol Gang

what is extortion

welcome By: Elena Grace Flores

Extortion is the practice of obtaining something, especially money, through force or threats. However, with the crime committed by the “budol-budol” gang in the Philippines, it’s like extortion with consent.

[VIDEO]: Look through these circumstances when one is extorted with money as if hypnotized – and the various cases filed against Budol-budol gangs.

Budol-Budol Gangs

A gang that extorts money and valuable items from their willing victims are called Budol-Budol in the Philippines. It is not sure if they use some kind of hypnotism or just the power of the tongue. Making too good to be true promises and befriending their targets are their main strategies.

Senior Citizens are Targets of such Crimes

Senior citizens who have some money or valuables kept for retirement are favorite targets of the budol-budol gangs. They are trustful and easy to convince. Very open to friendship with strangers as well. Therefore, they are prone victims to the crimes committed by the group.

Government Urges Sacrifice from Seniors

Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez earlier said that the government was reviewing the value-added tax (VAT) exemptions granted to people 60 years old and above. Dominguez sought help from senior citizens. He said the money the government would be able to save from VAT exemptions would go to much-needed investments in agriculture, infrastructure, and social services

How about Senior Citizens Protection?

Since Senior Citizens are asked to sacrifice for the society, can there be efforts to protect them from Budol-budol crimes? Families are not always there to monitor them. Can there be a surveillance protocol using technology to track down such activities? Again, another public service effort that must be looked into by people in power.

Perhaps More Attention Needed

The current lifestyle does not allow quality mingling with the seniors in the family. Work demands, little children supervision, and spousal responsibilities can lessen one’s time to be there for the elderly. Community activities can help.

What is extortion in a Caring Community?

Social activities are vital for the well-being of senior citizens. They should have their own group or association in their community. It would be hard to entice them with false offers when they have some other people to confide with.  What is extortion in a caring community? Busted crime, that’s all!

How do we go about Crimes not related to Drugs?

Crimes

welcome By: Elena Grace Flores

Incitement or resort to violence is the result of the President’s drug war. Crimes not related to drugs continue to happen in the Philippines. Little has been done about it. In fact, the PNP justifies that crime rate has gone done. Why is this not felt?

[VIDEO]: See the problems of society that include heinous crimes like rape and murder, robbery, arson and hostage dramas that are not caused by illegal drugs. Often due to poverty, anger mismanagement, mental illness and simply bad attitudes. How can these be prevented?

International Criminal Court

The International Criminal Court’s chief prosecutor, Fatou Bensouda will be closely following developments in the Philippines in the weeks to come and record any instance of incitement or resort to violence

Inciting to Killings

Bensouda also raised the alarm over earlier pronouncements of government leaders which she said seemed to condone killings and encourage State forces and civilians to target individuals “with lethal force.

President’s Defense on Crimes

President Rodrigo Duterte in his speeches is far too defensive in his drug war. His announcements and comments in public did not help solve drug-related crimes. Instead, they incite or condone (inspire) other crimes not related to drug abuse.

Robberies, Rape, Arson and Murder

Robberies, rape, arson, and murder are crimes committed by some individuals without the influence of drugs. Oftentimes, it’s crime of passion that root from mental instability, aggression, and anger mismanagement.

Mental Health Care

When the poorest of the poor are stressed out and don’t know what to do, where can they go? The people they knew would likely have the same problems. This is one government public service that must be enhanced the same as the drug war.

Ills of Society

Social problems cannot be dealt with by the president alone. Each citizen of the country has the responsibility to take care of another or contribute to the community. If resources are scarce, services will do. But government agencies must initiate these moves to get a wider coverage.
