Bongbong Marcos Camp’s spokesperson, Atty. Vic Rodriguez vows; We will not rest until the real election results come out. We will not rest until those responsible for making a mockery of our elections are put behind bars.”
[VIDEO]: The camp of Vice President Leni Robredo is alarmed over rumors saying the Philippines would “have a new VP” by early 2017.
Election Manual Recount to Proceed
“Based on the latest SC decision, the manual recount of ballots will proceed as planned. The same holds true for the annulment of the election results in Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao and Basilan. We already know that more than 14 million voters chose BBM as their VP. We also know that there are millions more out there whose votes were not counted, added Rodriguez.
Robredo’s Camp Alarmed
The camp of Vice President Leni Robredo expressed alarm over rumors that the country would “have a new VP” by early 2017. In a statement, Robredo’s spokesperson Georgina Hernandez said messages have been circulating about a supposed recount that would lead to the unseating of the Vice President.
This recount, Hernandez said earlier, would be “without the direction of the Presidential Electoral Tribunal” or PET, which handles the election protest filed by Marcos against Robredo. However, in recent developments, PET itself rules in favor of the immediate recount. Preparations are now ongoing after it orders to retrieve ballot boxes and election paraphernalia from the identified pioneer provinces.
New VP in 2018
This rumor is likely true: “Recount of ballots from 4-5 provinces will start end of November and will finish by December, deliberations after. You can bet early next year, we have a new VP.” The estimates here are consistent with Marcos’ disclosure in an interview. This is something that most pro-Marcos, if not the general public would follow through.
Political analyst Ramon Casiple was right. He said that Bongbong Marcos’ electoral protest against Leni Robredo will reach the 2019 elections. It is not about the substance of the complaint since it is evident that there was cheating especially now that the impeachment of the COMELEC Chair is more likely.

Not Helping Yet
Marcos is successful in his bid to have 3 commissioners to supervise the electoral protest proceedings. However, Robredo’s Camp manages to halt it on the first part of his three courses of actions. CJ Sereno’s possible impeachment also slows down the process. In fact, the recount is already overshadowed by Bautista’s scandal and Kian’s death.
Identification of Witnesses
As discussed in the preliminary conference, both camps agreed to limit witnesses to 3 for each of the 2,756 clustered precincts in Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao and Basilan. They are told to identify them in their comments. Robredo’s lawyer, Romulo Macalintal points out that in Marcos’ response, he failed to identify such witnesses. He just made the same reservation as such.
Banking on Protest Inconsistencies
Robredo’s lawyers are very vigilant in every detail that can possibly delay the recount. This is already taken since various Representatives of the House endorsed Chairman Andres Bautista’s impeachment complaint. That alone already clouds the integrity of the 2016 automated elections.
Election 2019 Decision
Protestant Marcos may not admit that he has to already decide this early on what to do during the Senatorial election in 2019. He may continue the protest and let his sister, Gov. Imee Marcos to run as Senator than seek another term. He can also do otherwise and face the consequence to moot his case against Robredo. Besides, there’s the election 2022 as well where he could run as President which he can be a popular bet if he wins the electoral protest. Whatever he does, he has to decide soon.
