Panelo: Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV is the one who is scared shit not Duterte on his ICC story
ICC Story of Trillanes is a Hoax
The ICC only anticipates reaching a decision to seek an authority to make a decision. No reasonable basis at all contrary to what former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV said. Secretary Salvador Panelo explains that due process says that a case must hear the other side first before it convened. There’s never a publication at the Gazette about the complaint. Also, the withdrawal of the country from the ICC is so timely that it junks such proceeding if there’s any. The coward Trillanes’ attempt to malign President Rodrigo Duterte reflects on how he was scared shit when he surrendered right away after the coup d’etat, Panelo added.
ICC Has No No Jurisdiction
ICC Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda according to Panelo is bias against Duterte. In actuality, the ICC has no jurisdiction over the alleged human rights violation of the President. His 91 to 97% approval rating alone can tell on the spot that the case is purely political. This is to discredit the Filipino leader. Just like what the opposition did to the late President Ferdinand Marcos. Most Filipinos are aware of this scenario already.
No Criminal Proceeding Yet
Even if they insist that despite the ICC withdrawal, the case can go on because the criminal proceeding is already done. This is still not valid. There’s only a preliminary conference so far. No criminal proceeding yet. So, the withdrawal of the Philippines from the ICC puts a stop to the formality of the case filed against Duterte. They could either use this to make noise or dismiss it right away.
President Duterte’s answer to Trillanes’ ICC scare
ICC Does Not Read
Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV earlier said that President Rodrigo Duterte should now be scared because of ICC’s action on his order – that the police can kill drug suspects. The Filipino leader calls Trillanes a dog shit. Besides the ICC does not read statements. He said that in line of duty, the policemen can kill to protect themselves. This is self-defense according to the law. The President stands by the authorities on casualties during police operations.
To Die for His Principles
Duterte also criticises Trillanes that he became Senator only when he joins a coup d’etat against the administration of former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. Then, he surrenders just like that. Trillanes is such a coward, the President reiterates. As for him, he is willing to die for his principles.
The Accomplishment of Trillanes
President Duterte asked; What is Trillanes’ accomplishment as a Senator? Nothing, he said. All he did was to malign people for the benefit of his party. If ever he would run again this 2022 election, he would never win, the President swears. This is a very strong statement that follows after declaring that he would wash Leni Robredo’s dirty linen in public if she runs for President.
It is a big insult for many Filipinos particularly Bongbong Marcos’ supporters what VP Leni Robredo said during an interview. Most of her attackers on social media are not real people, she added. This proves to show that she has no clue how social media works. Even trolls cannot function without someone behind it. It is also not the number of posts that make an issue viral but the quality of content. Therefore, Robredo has no right to advice President Rodrigo Du30 not to let his emotions get the better of him in quitting the ICC or International Criminal Court. She definitely does not have the brains needed.

Not Real People
Leni Robredo says in an interview that the attacks that she receives mostly come from a well-oiled infrastructure. They are not from real people. She comments that her small percentage of real people is not enough defending her. It is hard to keep up with her attackers who employ those expensive setups, she said.
Lack of Knowledge or Total Stupidity?
Social media practitioners and online marketing gurus can attest that to get followers, one must be credible, consistent, knowledgeable, an expert on his or her field, and has a unique personality. Originality is a must so to speak given the information overload during the digital age. Online influencers must build their name in a course of time. A politician cannot just hire people to post attacks against their enemies to get patronage using trolls. That won’t last. Besides, Facebook and Google’s strict policies just won’t allow duplicated or reported users to linger.
ICC as a Safety Net
We shouldn’t be ruled by temper in deciding whether or not to quit from the ICC, Robredo pleaded. However, she forgets that she resigned from Du30’s Cabinet in 2016 due to policy differences. Taking the ICC as a “safety net” for alleged victims of human rights abuse by public officials can only mean that the association can certainly be used by anti-government movers like her against a ruling party or official.
Social Media Criticisms
Perhaps, Robredo does not realize that the very reason why she gets all the negative criticisms via social media is her “shallow” views on sensitive issues. It is really true that once she opens her mouth, she just destroys herself. Then she has the guts to blame it on President Du30 and Bongbong Marcos. A typical trait of a loser.
Bongbong Marcos answers the question point blank that although the camp of his VP post rival wants him to run for Senator in the 2019 national election to abandon his electoral protest against Vice President Leni Robredo, he won’t give them that satisfaction. To run for president after Du30’s term in 2022 is also a long way to go. However, it is his sister, Gov. Imee Marcos who is to seek for a Senate seat. This is the family’s backup plan for the uncertain protest which now has a new recount schedule on April 2, 2018, instead of March 19. The Marcoses are supportive of Du30 particularly the recent ICC withdrawal.

Marcos also defends Du30 on the comment that Du30 seems to be afraid of elections unlike his late father Ferdinand Marcos who was into snap elections. He said that the president has a good reason to delay them. Ultimately they will happen at the right time.
Du30 urges other nations to follow his move to quit a treaty underpinning the International Criminal Court. The ICC is examining his drug war. He lashes out at the war crimes tribunal two days after his government officially notified the United Nations of his decision to pull the Philippines out of the Rome
The Philippines recently notifies the United Nations that it decides to opt out of the Rome Statute. This is the country’s initial move to begin the process for its withdrawal from the International Criminal Court or ICC. Foreign Secretary Alan Peter S. Cayetano said the withdrawal was formally conveyed in a note verbale that Philippine Permanent Representative to the UN Teodoro Locsin Jr. He hands it over to Maria Luiza Ribeiro Viotti, the Chef de Cabinet of UN Secretary-General Antonio Gutteres, at 6:07 p.m. New York time on Thursday, or 6:07 a.m. Manila time on Friday, March 16, 2018.
Marcos Supports Du30’s ICC Stand
Like Du30, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro launches a verbal barrage against UN Human Rights Office High Commissioner Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein for his comments on alleged human rights violations in his country. Like what Bongbong Marcos said earlier that they should not judge Filipinos because they are not judged by them. The ICC has no clue whatsoever on what’s really going on in both countries. They only rely on fake news from the government destabilizers.
Bongbong Marcos reacts an hour after the news breaks that President Rodrigo Du30 withdraws the country’s membership from the ICC. The former Senator said that it is just right for the Filipino leader to defend the dignity of Filipinos after the international body’s unlogical criticisms and dictates to the President without full knowledge of the situations. The ICC must treat the Philippines as a mature sovereign nation, Marcos said. They should not judge us because we do not judge them, he added.

Avalanche of Withdrawals
The President’s spokesman, Atty. Harry Roque believes the Philippines’ withdrawal from the International Criminal Court is “the beginning of the end” for the court, as it will start an avalanche of withdrawal of other countries. The ICC violated its “complementarity” rule when it began its initial examination into the complaint against President Rodrigo Du30 in relation to the administration’s war on drugs.
Out of ICC’s Jurisdiction
Roque, who specializes in international law, stresses that the ICC, under its complementarity principle, can only exercise jurisdiction when domestic courts are unwilling or unable to do their work. This is not the case in the Philippines. The spokesman said he already brought the issue up before the ICC several times but he was ignored.
Major Powers are NOT Members
Roque points out that major powers such as the United States, Russia, and China are not even members. He is a former co-chairperson of the Philippine Coalition for the International Criminal Court. He was grateful to President Benigno Aquino III for the Philippines’ membership in 2011 but understands Du30’s point now. President Du30 decides to withdraw the Philippines’ ratification of a United Nations treaty that created the body. By withdrawing, the Philippines expects that it no longer has jurisdiction over the nation.
Anti and Pro-Administration
Marcos who is a staunch ally of the President hails his pulling out from the ICC. However, Senator Leila De Lima calls Du30 a coward for doing so. The people can very well see the kind of leaders and politicians from this incident.
The new Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque is the only Philippine lawyer allowed to practice law at the ICC as a human rights crusader. He hopes to be able to advise the President directly regarding the manner and methods for the drug war. The international case against Du30 is the last straw of the opposition to take him down. Meanwhile, on foreign relations, the US President decides to extend his trip to Asia, a day more in the Philippines to coincide with the East Asia regional summit. He warns China anew that “warrior nation” Japan could take matters into its own hands if the threat posed by North Korea is not addressed. Du30’s strategies with the US, China, and Japan are obviously working but his detractors can’t settle with that not until Bongbong Marcos wins the electoral protest against VP Leni Robredo soon.

ICC as Last Resort
Roque said that the ICC is the “court of last resort,” and that there is no evidence that proves Du30 ordered killings to be carried out by the so-called Davao Death Squad (DDS). The case pertains to the alleged violations during his stint as Davao City mayor. The ICC will only exercise jurisdiction “if local courts are unwilling or unable to do so.” Parties have to show that a case filed in the Philippines did not succeed before it can go to the ICC, Roque added.
Not Missing the East Asian Summit
Trump left Joint Base Andrews and is bound for Hawaii. From there he will travel on to Japan, South Korea, China, Vietnam and the Philippines. The American President unleashes a barrage of invective comments against political foes. This even includes his own Justice Department, which is investigating his campaign’s ties to Russia. He also announces during departure that the marathon trip is extended to include an East Asia Summit in the Philippines, which he had been slated to miss.
Japan as Warrior Nation
“Japan is a warrior nation, and I tell China and I tell everyone else that listens, I mean, you’re gonna have yourself a big problem with Japan pretty soon if you allow this to continue with North Korea,” Trump said. President Xi Jinping has been “pretty terrific” on North Korea, and that “China is helping us,” he added. The Chinese leader chides from Trump for failing to rein in Kim. China implements tougher UN sanctions against North Korea instead. That warms up Xi’s relationship with the US leader. North Korea in July launched two intercontinental ballistic missiles apparently capable of reaching the US mainland, according to its leader Kim Jong-Un as a gift to “American bastards.”
Bongbong Marcos’ Take
Bongbong Marcos clearly said that Du30’s enemies would only stop attacking the President when he becomes Vice President. He added that those who are against the Filipino leader cannot bear him having to replace Du30 as President. it is not a secret that there is some kind of Du30-Marcos understanding even before the election 2016. In fact, most of the President’s controversial but effective moves follow the principles of the late President Ferdinand Marcos. The people are anxiously waiting for the recount date from the Supreme Court.
The late Miriam Defensor Santiago was the first Filipino elected as judge of the International Criminal Court or ICC, based in The Hague, Netherlands, in 2011. She only let go of her post in 2014 due to her chronic fatigue syndrome. Santiago was a no-bullshit public servant. She would immediately turn down any politicking attempts once they reach her table. Anti-administration politicians can think of this if they ever bring the President’s alleged human rights complaints again to the Hague.

Public Service Principles Molded
Santiago served in all three branches of the government. The presiding judge of the Quezon City Regional Trial Court; immigration commissioner, agrarian reform secretary; and a senator for three terms. She filed the most number of bills in the Senate. Her decision-making principles were based on her solid experience in the legislative, executive, and judiciary branches.
Bongbong Marcos said that his campaign experience with Santiago “was always a learning experience.” Important issues were always related to the experience of an ordinary Filipino.” “The way she took the legal issues and explain it to a layman is just remarkable. She had a very clear way of thinking straight to the root of the problem. But always delivered with a personal conviction that brought tears to people’s eyes from laughing,” Marcos said. He refers to Santiago’s infamous one-liners that appealed effectively to the youth.
Bongbong Marcos to Santiago
“It was her decision” to press on for the presidency despite her health condition, her running mate, Bongbong Marcos, said when asked if he ever asked Santiago to slow down during the campaign. “It was not in her constitution to stand back and take it easy. She always moved forward addressing head-on the issues. Santiago tried to address the problems she saw the Philippines was facing,” Marcos added.
Take it for the Ride
The President shrugged off threats by opposition lawmaker Gary Alejano to bring him to the ICC to answer allegations of human rights violations. This is in connection with the government’s drug war. Du30 made the statement following the quashing by the Congress for the impeachment complaint against him filed by Alejano for lack of substance.
