Panelo: Facebook is Not the Only Social Media Platform For the Du30 Supporters

Facebook

By: Elena Grace Flores

Presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo said that the removal of the pro-Du30 pages from Facebook does not speak about the profile of the President’s supporters. FB decides to take down pages supportive of the President due to alleged spam content and violation of its authenticity policies. The Filipino leader’s avid followers still have enough social media platforms to express their support outside of the number one social media platform in the Philippines, added Panelo. Duterte Media, Duterte sa Pagbabago Bukas, DDS, Duterte Phenomenon and DU30 Trending News were among the pages removed. Manang Imee, a page that endorses Du30’s ally, Gov. Imee Marcos’ senatorial bid in the 2019 elections also did not survive the purge.

Just Riding On at Facebook?

All these groups back President Du30. It is not sure, however,  the administrators of these pages are actual supporters of the president. They can just be profiting off from his popularity. “Manang Imee”, on the other hand, expresses support for the eldest daughter of the late President Ferdinand Marcos. Marcos is a close political ally of Du30.

2nd Massive Removal

Facebook has removed over 100 pages and accounts in the Philippines, including several Pro-Du30 groups that it said, violated its policies on spam. This is just the second time after Maria Ressa, the founder of Rappler accuses FB of aiding Du30  in 2017. It is obvious that the intensity of these groups can drive her business into bankruptcy.

Political Twist

Ressa and her company are known to be the supporters of the presumptive Vice President Leni Robredo’s political party. Robredo leads the opposition slate and is anxious to replace the president, according to reports. Her ultimate dream can be jeopardized by the electoral protest of Bongbong Marcos, the brother of Gov. Marcos.

Purging Reason

It said the pages and accounts, which were mostly political or entertainment-themed, directed visitors to “low-quality websites that contain little substantive content and are full of disruptive ads”.

Online Security vs. Freedom of Speech

The US is the number one country where Cambridge Analytica had improper access to Facebook users’ data. Number two is the Philippines. This is where the corruption of more than a million Filipino data can take place. Facebook’s move is their prerogative for online security. However, they should know that Article III Section 4 of the 1987 Constitution of the Philippines specifies that; no law shall be passed abridging the freedom of speech or of expression.

Why are there Attempts to Destroy the Du30-Marcos-Binay Alliance in time for the New Supreme Court CJ?

Supreme Court

By: Elena Grace Flores

Misled Marcos supporters made unlogical posts on social media recently. They said that President Rodrigo Du30 just uses Bongbong Marcos to enhance his already outstanding popularity during the last elections. This is because of his alleged no action on Marcos’ electoral protest. As political experts say, all alliances are vital in every election. This is why we can see posts that discredit the Binays despite the efforts of the former VP to gather evidence for the 2016 electoral fraud. His daughter, Senator Nancy Binay also filed a resolution for the Senate to investigate such anomalies. Marcos himself is very thankful of that. There is actually another reason to destroy the Du30-Marcos-Binay alliance. The President by law can’t have a hand in the protest. He can only appoint Supreme Court magistrates.

[VIDEO]: October 18, 2018 – JBC public panel interview for the position of Supreme Court Associate Justice

Constitutional Supreme Court Process

Pursuant to Section 2, Rule 7 of the Revised Rules of the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC), a public panel interview was conducted on 18 October 2018at the Division Hearing Room, Supreme Court Main Building of the following candidates for the position of SC Associate Justice (vice Hon. Teresita J. Leonardo-De Castro):

1. JIMENO, Rita Linda V.
2. QUIROZ, Alex D.L.

The following are also candidates for the said judicial position, but whose previous interviews are still valid:
1. BADELLES, Oscar V.
2. BARRIOS, Manuel M.
3. BRUSELAS, Apolinario D., Jr.
4. CARANDANG, Rosmari D.
5. CRUZ, Stephen C. 11. VILLANUEVA, Cesar L.
6. DELOS SANTOS, Edgardo L.
7. DIMAAMPAO, Japar B.
8. GARCIA, Ramon D.R.
9. LAZARO-JAVIER, Amy C.

Seniority or Alliance Challenge for President Du30

As per the rule, at least 3 candidates must be nominated according to the seniority culture of the SC. Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio has accepted his automatic nomination for the Chief Justice post. He has been at the Supreme Court since October 2001, is the first appointee of former President, now Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. He is the third candidate to accept his nomination – first was Associate Justice Lucas Bersamin, followed by Associate Justice Diosdado Peralta. However, he opposed the ouster of the anti-administration CJ Maria Lourdes-Sereno. Carpio’s nomination will determine if Du30 will stay true to his word that seniority was his biggest factor in appointing De Castro, according to the yellow media. However, rejecting him would also make his alliance with Bongbong Marcos stronger who’s electoral protest against the presumptive VP, Leni Robredo is still pending with the slow manual recount of the pioneer areas.

Du30’s Supreme Court Appointees

After 4 previous appointments to the High Court in 2017 – Samuel Martires (March 2, 2017), Noel Tijam (March 8, 2017), Andres Reyes (July 13, 2017), and Alexander Gesmundo (August 14, 2017). Du30 is filling up 4 more vacancies by the end of 2018. An additional 5 by the end of 2019 are also at stake. It will be a Du30-packed court by the time the President ends his term in 2022. Of the 15 sitting SC justices by then, a total of 13 would be his appointees. If the VP electoral protest ruling happens in 2019, 9 out of 15 is already a majority.

The Binay vs. Binay in Makati is Part of Democracy

The former Vice President Jejomar Binay will not choose whom to support as Mayor of Makati between his two children this coming 2019 midterm polls. He said that he will leave it to the voters whom they will choose as their local leader. While the yellow media are feasting over this issue, the Binay patriarch is certain that one of his children will win. He is not only democratic during elections but also as a father. Despite the divided votes, they still have the majority. That’s how strong the political supporters of the Binays are. So, the question of why Senator Binay won in the first place is not logical. Her alliance with Gov. Imee Marcos works both ways. Remember that one voter won’t vote only for one Senator but 12. The new constitution dictates that 12 senators would be elected every three years.

Du30-Marcos Alliance is Formidable

The President who is an incumbent and former senator Marcos who was denied his rightful place to become an incumbent is are still hanging on. However, emerging alliance between Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos and Davao City Mayor Sara Du30-Carpio is sending the yellow supporters sleepless nights. An alliance between a Du30 and a Marcos is already naturally proven to be formidable. It has a constituency that is real and not just imagined. So, if one is really a Marcos loyalist, he or she won’t ride on to the yellow’s black propaganda to destroy the Du30-Marcos-Binay alliance for the governor to be the number one Senator.

Why does Robredo Need to Highlight her Insecurity with Imee Marcos to Endorse Roxas for Election 2019?

election 2019

By: Elena Grace Flores

Mar Roxas ends his semi-retirement in politics as he files the certificate of candidacy in Election 2019 for Senator. Since Smartmatic still operates the poll, there are still yellows who can win through the fraudulent machines. This is some kind of payment for the debt of Smartmatic to Noynoy Aquino when he allowed it to administer the 2016 elections despite its disqualification. Meanwhile, Leni Robredo stresses the reason why Roxas is running. It’s because “there is another Marcos again” who will run in the Senate, she said. She is referring to Gov. Imee Marcos. If Marcos was actually the reason for Roxas’ candidacy, why didn’t he wait for her to file her candidacy first before his? So clearly, the governor is not his reason for his decision. Roxas is really excited to run because he knows he can win with Smartmatic’s manipulation, according to Atty. Glenn Chong.

Senator to be Imee Marcos’ Solutions

Imee Marcos focuses on the chant “Imee, solution,” of her supporters and zones out the chants of “Never again to Martial Law” by supporters of the opposition senatorial bet Chel Diokno. On Tuesday, the 16th of October, 2018 she filed for her certificate of candidacy at the Commission on Elections.

Family Support

She is accompanied by her family. Her mother was there, former First Lady Imelda Marcos, who is also seeking to fill in the Ilocos Norte governor slot in the election 2019. Her brother Bongbong was also there, who is currently contesting the results of the 2016 elections for vice president.

The Bet of the Millennials

Imee Marcos is appealing to the Millenials. She once headed the KB, the forerunner of the Sangguniang Kabataan, during the Martial Law period. In an interview, she says that the times are different now. Furthermore, the millennials are now willing to hear about their side of the story.

Roxas Filed his COC for Election 2019 First

As another senatorial bet of the LP, Mar Roxas, the former interior secretary, arrived to file for his Certificate of Candidacy prior to Imee. The Marcos supporters still shouted their support for Marcos. Roxas responds, he says in a video that he had taken an examination of conscience for the past weeks. He ascertains that despite his imperfections as well as shortcomings, he still believes that he has given his best to serve the country as well as its people.

Democracy in a Divided Nation

The supporters of both sides taunted each other outside of the Comelec. Marcos, under the Nacionalista Party, and a Du30 ally, and Diokno, running under the opposing Liberal party, did not talk to each other during the filing of their COCs. Even Mar Roxas comments upon arriving at the Comelec that democracy is very much alive. This is contrary to the lie of Robredo that it is now dead. The presumptive VP is known for her lies and fake news just to discredit the current administration for her party’s own advantage. It is clear that she has to cover her own insecurity with Bongbong Marcos using his sister and her LP co-member’s  senatorial rivalry.

Is the Senate Presidency More Viable for Imee Marcos than to be the No. 1 Senator with Smartmatic Around?

Senator

By: Elena Grace Flores

The rise of the Marcoses is fast on the track. The electoral protest of Bongbong Marcos against the presumptive Vice President, Leni Robredo might take a long time to get resolved. However, Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos has filed for her candidacy in the 2019 midterm polls to run for Senator. She also forges an alliance with Davao City Mayor  Sara Du30. The Du30 and Marcoses’ supporters are campaigning for her to land on the top slot but, the pro-yellow Smartmatic is still a player in the elections. Nonetheless, with the charter change on the process, she might be better of as Senate President. There’s no denying that her impact in the Congress and the Senate is still very strong. If she can influence the lower House of Representatives for Congresswoman Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s speakership, she can very well get the majority votes for the Senate Presidency.

[VIDEO]: Governor Imee Marcos reviews the accomplishments of her father as she runs for Senator.

First but Powerful Senator to Be

This is Imee’s first time to run as senator. Her brother served as senator from 2010 to 2016. However, he lost against Leni Robredo in the bid for vice president. The electoral protest is still ongoing. Marcos is ranked 6th by Pulse Asia in a September survey. Consequently, she rose up 6 places from 14th in the June survey. With her surging popularity in social media, however, she may well be the number one Senator.

Performance is Greater than Controversies

Imee is now on her final term as governor of Ilocos Norte, her hometown. Previously, she had also served as a lawmaker representing Ilocos Norte’s 2nd district for 9 years. There has been no shortage of controversies in her administration. However, no matter the faults her political enemies seek to uncover, her concern for the welfare of her constituents is still apparent.

The Marcos Golden Age

The Marcos administration has been heralded by people as the “Golden Age of Infrastructure Development” of the country. In that time, an extensive program for public infrastructure was launched. Transportation, Communication, Health, Arts and Culture were all given projects. The road network was more than doubled. From 55,554 km in 1965, it went to 129,186 km in 1980. Maharlika Highway was one of the primary projects during Marcos’ time. This has added 3,517 km of road to the country’s network. Currently, this serves as the primary highway connecting Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. There were more bridges built adding 11,472 meters.

Infrastructure Projects

Plans were made for Circumferential Roads 1 through 10 to ease the travel in the metro. The Light Rail Transit was opened, which was the first in Asia. It connected north and south of Metro Manila, Monumento to Baclaran. 40 years have passed and the LRT is still in common usage. More airports were built, from 140 to 199. Simultaneously, more harbors were also built, from 622 to 849. In modern communication, The Philippines became part of the ASEAN Cable System. Wherein, 2,841 km of cables were laid out from Ilocos Norte to Singapore. This upped the quality of communication in the country. Most important of all, these infrastructures not only continue to give service to the people but also serves as a source of pride because of their high quality.

World-Class Vision Needs Authority

The Marcoses aim to continue the vision of their patriarch but they can only be effective if they have the authority. The opposition might be successful in delaying the return of BBM to the executive office but her sister is hard to block. The proposed new charter skips the VP in the presidential succession to prevent instability. It cites the ongoing poll protest against Robredo. The Senate President succeeds the President if this pushes through. It would be ideal for Gov. Marcos to secure the post of Senate President just in case BBM’s poll protest goes nowhere. Mind you, Smartmatic is still around. So, Imee Marcos as the No. 1 Senator might not be possible – but it’s another story as Senate President.

Election Riddle: If Imee Marcos Makes it to the Top 3 Senators 2019, What will it Make Bongbong Marcos in 2022?

election

By: Elena Grace Flores

The anti-Marcos stalwarts can only deny the rising popularity of Gov. Imee Marcos for Senator in the upcoming 2019 election. However, they start to ask; Will voters care if the candidate is pro-Marcos or anti-Marcos? Political analysts and Professor, Ramon Casiple, Tindig Pilipinas Convenor. Atty. Edwin Lacierda, and Atty. Bruce Rivera debate on the issue. At one point, they insinuate that if she makes it to the top 3, then what will it make Bongbong Marcos in 2022?

YouTube video by One News PH

[VIDEO]: Will voters care if the candidate is pro-Marcos or anti-Marcos? Political analysts and Professor, Ramon Casiple, Tindig Pilipinas Convenor, Atty. Edwin Lacierda, and Atty. Bruce Rivera said that this is a non-factor in the voters’ decision in choosing their candidates.

Top 3 Contenders for Senators

Political personalities seeking reelection and a return to the Senate will most likely top the senatorial elections. A commissioned survey of the Social Weather Stations (SWS) announced this recently. Billionaire Senator Cynthia Villar tops the survey with 53 percent. Senator Grace Poe immediately follows. Taguig Representative, Pia Cayetano, a former senator was next. The two are tied at 2nd and 3rd place with 43 percent each.

Reelectionists on the 4th and 5th Places

Tied in 4th and 5th places meanwhile, are reelectionists, Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III and former Senator Lito Lapid. Former Senator Jinggoy Estrada, who seeks for a political comeback after a three-year detention over plunder charges, places 6th. Next in the list is the former senator and Interior Secretary Mar Roxas Lacierda stresses that the LP would be very happy if Roxas is indeed running.

8th and 9th Placers

Reelectionist Senators Nancy Binay and Sonny Angara share the 8th to 9th spots. Bureau of Corrections chief Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa follows them. Completing the “Magic 12” are former Senator Serge Osmeña and Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos. As per the discussion, Marcos can still make it to the top 3 since her position jumps to the 7th from the 11th spot during Pulse Asia’s recent survey.

The Likely Occupants of the 12 Senatorial Seats

Reelectionist Senators Nancy Binay and Sonny Angara shared the 8th to 9th spots at 26 percent each. Bureau of Corrections chief Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa follows at 25 percent. Completing the “Magic 12” are former Senator Serge Osmeña and Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos at 24 percent each. The rest of the LP bets are at the tail end.

Imee Marcos’ Rise in the 2019 Election Survey

Unfortunately for the Marcos detractors, there’s a sudden rise of Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos’ rank in the recent Pulse Asia senatorial survey. Its President justifies it by saying that it is not due to “an increase of her voting support.” The daughter of the late President Ferdinand Marcos climbs to the 8th spot in Pulse Asia’s September senatorial preferences survey. She is up 6 spots from her 14th place finish in the June survey. Atty. Rivera explains that since Marcos has the support of President Rodrigo Du30, she can easily gain votes from his supporters. Likewise, Du30’s chosen Presidential successor is her brother Bongbong Marcos. That can very well equate to his possible win should he runs for President in 2022.
