Is Senator Koko Pimentel Falling Short of his Promise to Present Smartmatic to the Public?

senator

By: Elena Grace Flores

During the last Senate committee meeting on September 13, 2018, Senator Koko Pimentel pledged that Smartmatic people must divulge their knowledge on the alleged 2016 election fraud. Two months had passed by and this promise is still hanging. However, he prioritizes the filing of his questionable certificate of candidacy and his recent marriage. Does this mean that there’s no more public hearing on this issue?

Two Kinds of Senate Hearings

There are two types of hearings in the Senate. First is the public hearing where it is open to the media and the public. Then, the executive sessions where the media and the public are not allowed. Only members of the Senate and the Congress can attend such meeting. Atty. Glenn Chong’s team members are worried that Senator Pimentel’s committee would opt for the executive session. Given that this could save Smartmatic from further embarrassments.

Pre-judged Case?

Smartmatic in partnership with Comelec is obviously very powerful. Only a public hearing can justify a clean mid-term election. However, it is notable that Pimentel’s committee is very quiet nowadays. It could be that an executive session is now cooking if the running Senator is in connivance with the riding in tandem, as Atty. Chong puts it.

Regaining the Public’s Trust

As long as the Smartmatic witnesses cannot be presented in a public hearing, the people will surely doubt the integrity of the elections in 2019. It would look like the committee is protecting the Comelec and Smartmatic fraud syndicates. The Senate would surely lose its credibility as a worst-case scenario.

Confusion on the Law

The Constitution provides that the term of office of a senator is six years and that no senator can run for more than two consecutive terms. “In the case of Pimentel, he lost in the May 2007 election for senator but eventually won his election protest against Senator (Juan Miguel) Zubiri in August 2011 and served merely the remaining two years unexpired term of Zubiri from August 2011 to June 2013”. Pimentel’s election lawyers cited the 2017 case of Albania vs. Comelec, where the High Court reiterated its previous similar doctrines in other election cases that the period of time that an elective official served after winning his election protest “did not constitute a complete and full service of his term as he did not hold the office for the full term of three years to which he was supposedly entitled to.” Other lawyers also disagree with this analysis.

Newly-Wed Blues

Pimentel, 54, married partner Kathryna Yu, 36, in a civil wedding ceremony last October 18, at the Coconut Palace. Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonio Carpio officiated the wedding, which was attended by big names in politics and showbiz. President Rodrigo Du30 and close aide Bong Go who also runs for Senator led the principal sponsors. Despite the newly-wed blues, Atty. Chong still insists on Pimentel’s response as to when the next public hearing would be on the election fraud issue?

Bongbong Marcos’ Electoral Protest Recount Now Progresses to Negros Occidental

protest

By: Elena Grace Flores

According to Atty. Glenn Chong, Bongbong Marcos’ protest is nearing its end. The revision in Iloilo and Camarines Sur is almost finished. Furthermore, 1284 ballot boxes are being retrieved for Negros Oriental. This is the last province of the 3 provinces set by PET for the recount. If Justice Caguioa’s timetable would be followed, the revision should be finished by November. Depending on the numbered of recovered votes in his favor, he can then decide to continue to other places or stop to fast-track the decision.

[VIDEO]: Atty. Chong reveals the digital election manipulation using his technical expertise.

Checking the Validity of Marcos’ Heavy Losses in Negros Occidental

Negros Oriental is one of the 20 provinces that is being protested. This is as Dumaguete City Election Officer Gildu Agoncillo discloses. On the records, Leni Robredo had 255,000 votes while Marcos loses heavily with only 66,000 votes. This is the biggest difference all throughout the country by the percentage. Hence, Negros Oriental is third on the list of the three pilot provinces.

Atty. Chong’s Analysis of the Protest

Atty. Chong thinks that we will finally know how much votes will Robredo still have over Marcos’. That is if there would still be any left. Furthermore, he thinks that if we get to this point, Marcos will have a substantial recovery. The protest will then continue, as the second stage.

Procedural Verdict

At the second stage, If Marcos completely overtakes Robredo’s votes that she can’t take back with her counter-protest, he can then withdraw the protest on the remaining provinces so it won’t take more time. Because, at this point, the show will be over for Robredo and the yellows.

Justification of Robredo’s Camp

According to Robredo’s legal counsel, Emil Maranon, If the complaint was dismissed then there would be no need to do the recount on the 17 other provinces. The recount of the 17 provinces depends on the recount of the pilot provinces. They are still hoping for a miracle to happen.

Election Hearing Development

According to Chong, Not only was the votes stolen from the people but this syndicate or the Smartmatic-Comelec connivance insults Filipinos. Consequently, Senator Koko Pimentel says that Smartmatic would have to answer on who among their employees were watching porn using the DNS server while the votes were being counted. That’s how lightly he is taking the country’s security measures during elections.

Bongbong Marcos Explains Leadership Changes for the Economy and Technology Advancement

Economy

By: Elena Grace Flores

It’s the economy, stupid” is a slight variation of the phrase “The economy, stupid”, which James Carville had coined as a campaign strategist of Bill Clinton‘s successful 1992 presidential campaign against sitting president George H. W. Bush. Former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s version was telling Pnoy; It’s the economy, student. Meanwhile, Bongbong Marcos talks about the track record of now Speaker Arroyo when it comes to the infrastructure of the economy when she was President. He said that such leadership change including Senator Tito’s Sotto’s takeover as the Senate President is crucial for the progress of the country.

Youtube video by; Bongbong Marcos

[VIDEO]: It turns out Clinton was right when he said, “It’s the economy, stupid.”

The First Female Speaker of the House

The anti-Arroyo faction must be outraged but former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo wins the house speakership post. She is the first female ever to be Speaker of the Philippines’ House of Representatives. The courageous woman is also the only former Philippine President to become speaker. While it is the first time in over a decade that in the middle of a President’s term the Speaker is replaced, Marcos is confident with Arroyo. There is no leader who has a greater sense of the economy as the former President, he said.

A Long Planned Transfer of Power

Without hesitation, Pimentel had formally nominated Sotto as his successor. Sotto now serves as the second Senate president of the 17th Congress. The transfer of power had long been planned, Pimentel says as he resigned from the position. It is done so peacefully and willingly.

The Impact of AI on the Economy

With the development of artificial intelligence comes the elimination of some jobs. But surely with this technology, we can witness the evolution of most professional landscapes. As research predicts, 1.8 million jobs will be gone by 2020, but 2.3 million jobs would be created. While the AI technology will lead to the extinction of repetitive jobs, we can see it morph and enhance creative jobs. These things should be considered while looking at the economy, Marcos says.

The Depreciation of Peso

The peso is weakening. With weak Philippine trade numbers as well as expectations of an interest rate increase in the US, the peso remains weak against the dollar. This according to Jonathan Ravelas, Chief Market Strategist of BDO Unibank Inc. This will certainly work to the benefit of exporters and dollar earners, as well as the families of OFWs, Cid Terosa, Dean of the University of Asia and the Pacific School of Economics said. Arroyo still worries however of its future implications, Marcos says. The depreciation of the Peso Value on the flip side may spur inflation. That can negatively impact the purchasing power of the common Filipino.

Marcos-Friendly Leadership

The electoral protest of Bongbong Marcos against VP Leni Robredo may still be uncertain. But now not only the President is Marcos-friendly. The heads of the Congress and the Senate are now on the same boat.  The current line of succession to the office of the President of the Philippines is specified by the 1987 Constitution. During the Marcos era, the line of succession would be amended to include a newly created cabinet or ministerial offices. The line of presidential succession follows the order of Vice President, President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives. In case of death, permanent disability, or inability of these officials, Congress shall, by law, provide for the manner of selection of the person who is to act as President until a President or Vice President shall have qualified.

Atty Chong Walked Out From Senate Hearing as Senator Pimentel Barred him from Speaking

Senator

By: Elena Grace Flores

Atty. Glenn Chong walked out of the Senate hearing on the electoral reforms as Comelec explained their answers to the allegations tolerated by Senator Koko Pimentel. The latter blamed it to lack of time. He apologized that not all resource persons were given the chance o talk. Chong urges the people not to vote lawmakers who are biased with Comelec’s nonsense explanations.

[VIDEO]:  ATTY GLEN CHONG NAG WALK OUT DAHIL AYAW PAGSALITAIN SA SENATE HEARING NI KOKO PIMENTEL!

Comelec Did Not Address the Anomalies

Comelec’s lengthy presentation made no relevance whatsoever to the specific anomalies raised by Chong in the previous hearing. Senator Tito Sotto even warned them that they have to provide factual evidence to counter the allegations because his sources are IT experts that can’t be fooled. However, Pimentel allowed Comelec’s nonsense stories to eat up the time.

Group Walk Out

The supporters of Chong followed suit after his walk out when they were informed that he is giving an interview outside of the hearing video. They swear that the event will be posted on social media as soon as they can. The people should know which bets for the seats of Senator do not deserve such votes in the 2019 elections.

Comelec to Retain Smartmatic for 2019

Senator Antonio Trillanes IV was seen at the beginning of the hearing. Sotto also left after a few minutes. The flow of the manifestations was solely in the hands of Pimentel. His partiality is very obvious here. However, he is open to the Hybrid treatment of the upcoming election that would clarify any surprises of fraudulent activities after the poll.

Fooling Around with their Answers

Those in charge of this very expensive propaganda campaign were so good at their job that they apparently even “convinced” government station PTV4 not to air the hearing live and the local gatekeepers of popular social media platform Facebook to take down pages that shared the YouTube video of the proceedings posted by the Senate, said the Manila Times.

A Big Election Fraud Against the People

Comelec now means the collector of Smartmatic proceeds. Social media marketers are one in making the call of Atty. Chong a massive campaign on letting the public know how he was ignored by the committee head. Many of them are publishing live coverages online. Few videos made it to the Youtube channel in real-time. The people must be aware that the manipulation of the country’s election is supported by some LP players as seen in the video.

Senator Lacson’s Sotto-Pimentel Senate Presidency Agreement Announcement Premature but True

senator

welcome By: Elena Grace Flores

acting workshop

Seniority-wise, Senate Majority Leader Vicente “Tito” Sotto III is set to succeed Senate President Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III. This can happen within this year, Senator Panfilo Lacson said. He cites that both seem to have an “agreement” that the Senate would respect. However, the senators deny this at this time but assure the public that they would soon talk. Previously, Senator Sotto reveals that he has reliable sources that can shed light on the anomalies of the 2016 election that is now the subject of the ongoing VP recount. The change of leadership can definitely give Bongbong Marcos an upper hand against Vice President Leni Robredo.

[VIDEO]: Bukas daw si Sen. Tito Sotto kung sakaling ipasa sa kanya ang liderato sa Senado.

Senator Lacson’s View

Senator Lacson estimates that the change in Senate leadership may happen in June or July, or in October at the latest. He speaks logically based on the legal process. Pimentel needs to give up his post for his re-election bid. Sotto is next in line in terms of experience.

No Agreement Yet

In previous reports, Lacson said the Senate will respect the agreement between the two if there’s any. However, Pimentel is yet to talk to Sotto on this matter. Sotto also confirms that there is no direct indication yet on that issue. There must be a caucus because two parties cannot decide only by themselves.

Will Talk Soon

Pimentel said there is “no agreement” yet. However, he added: “But will talk to Senator Sotto immediately upon arrival from Europe. Then hold majority caucus.” He is ready to vacate the post once the required 13 votes are reached. This pronouncement jives with Sotto’s thoughts. Therefore, it is likely to happen really soon.

Much Favored Senate President to Be

Like Pimentel, Sotto is a staunch ally of President Rodrigo Du30. The only difference is, there’s no doubt of his loyalty whereas Pimentel can be “friendly” to the Liberal Party members. Sotto also is the most senior among all senators and has more core allies in the chamber than Pimentel, whose only party mate is neophyte Senator Manny Pacquiao. Sotto definitely gets the nod of the majority with his expose and exchanges against the unpopular VP.
