The Reason Behind Anti-Marcos Media Noise VS. Silent Reality at the Congress

Congress

By: Elena Grace Flores

The Filipino people are not anymore reliant to mainstream media news for information on major public interests. Instead, most of them exert efforts to verify facts. Recently, the noise about Former First Lady Imelda Marcos’ alleged graft conviction and bail was everywhere. It highlights that the Sandiganbayan records show that former senator Bongbong and Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos were beneficiaries of the Swiss foundations earlier found to illegally exist under an unknown law. Naturally, the direct beneficiaries are the children. However, the 3rd Marcos sibling, Irene is not a politician. There’s rarely any mention of her name. Whereas the first two are strong contenders to the country’s top posts. Currently, Rep. Marcos is back to the Congress like nothing happened.

Back to the Congress

The former first lady was an early bird for the 3 pm plenary session at the Batasang Pambansa, arriving at the hall around 2:30 pm. She was wearing a pink terno-inspired long blouse and matching pants. The 89-year-old widow of the late President Ferdinand Marcos did not grant any media interviews. She was at the Congress on Monday, November 19. It was as usual.

Anti-Graft Court’s Show

On November 9, the anti-graft court Sandiganbayan found Marcos guilty of creating and maintaining private organizations in Switzerland. However, no law was cited why is this illegal. She earned at least $200 million from interest and investments for the “private benefit of the former first family. It is stressed out that the transaction is private because the deposits are privately owned.

Supreme Court’s Reversal is Expected

She was sentenced to prison for 6 years and 1 month to 11 years for each of the 7 counts of graft. Marcos, who is running for Ilocos Norte governor in 2019, can only be perpetually disqualified from holding public office if the conviction becomes executory. The Supreme Court is likely to reverse the ruling on Rep. Marcos – just like the previous dollar-salting case. The evidence was based on hearsay. Despite the documents from Swiss authorities, only two witnesses with no personal knowledge testified.

Shallow Media

An infamous yellow media even covers a Facebook post. It claims that the late Philippine President Marcos holds a Guinness World Record. That is for being the ‘Most Brilliant President in History’. Guinness did not give him such accolade, it clarified. It does list him as the one responsible for the ‘Greatest robbery of a Government,’ it added. It is odd that this publication goes to that extent of destroying the reputation of the dead. Obviously to discredit the rest of the family. These kinds of media give a bad name to journalists. They are either competing with bloggers or act as LP’s announcer.

Stopping the Marcoses’ Leadership

Meanwhile, Sandiganbayan records signify that the former senator whose electoral protest against the presumptive VP Leni Robredo is about to get a ruling from the PET for the recount on his pilot provinces. On top of that, the 80% ghost voters found in ARMM of the LP bets also made his case looks good. There’s no stopping the rising popularity of Ilocos Imee Marcos as well who is a survey favorite for Senator in the upcoming election. Many mainstream media are really desperate knowing that their faction can be wiped out soon.

Smiling Again with Bongbong Marcos after the Storm and 2016 Election Ghost Voters

election

By: Elena Grace Flores

Rebuilding Tacloban takes five years but Bongbong Marcos is grateful that the authorities involved are serious in their restoration campaign. The Warays are back to their old culture of simply smiling despite life’s difficulties. Just as when the discovery of around 80% 2016 election ghost voters in the ARMM that includes Basilan, Maguindanao and Lanao del Sur is made known recently,  the City of Tacloban remembers Super Typhoon Yolanda. Former Governor Imee Marcos and her brother joined the Taclobanons as they gathered at the 120-square-meter Yolanda Shipwreck Memorial Park last Nov. 8 to release sky lanterns and light candles. Other than that, Marcos has more reasons to smile as per the outcome of other election protests that affects his case.

[VIDEO]: We will never forget those whom we lost in this tragedy. And so, we will honor them by rebuilding better than before. And we will celebrate their lives by continuing to live fully.

Devastation Recall

In a commemoration event led by Mayor Cristina Romualdez, the mayor recalled all the events that occurred during the tragedy. Super typhoon Yolanda struck the city of Tacloban on Nov. 8, 2013, and affected a total of 8,065,019 persons, leaving 6,300 dead, 1,061 missing, and 28,689 injured.

Spending Time with the Taclobanons

Imee Marcos who is running for Senator in the 2019 election said; “I wanted to spend time with the Taclobanons in San Jose, on my birthday and on this special day that we remember Yolanda. Stand Tacloban! I admire you,” said ex-Gov. Marcos. She receives very positive responses on her Senate bid anywhere she goes for public appearances. Let alone in their Waray bailiwick. Eastern Visayas is a known bailiwick of the Marcoses since it is the hometown of their mother, Former First Lady Imelda Marcos. Rep. Marcos just posted bail for 7 counts of graft. The ruling can be reversed pending the court’s appeal or better yet, the Supreme Court remedy.

ARMM Ghost Voters

Former Sulu Governor Abdusakur Tan discloses the preliminary results of technical examination of physical ballots from Basilan, Maguindanao and Lanao del Sur part of ARMM. The said technical examination is from the Comelec itself because of his protest against LP candidate Mujiv Hataman, a close friend of Noynoy Aquino. In fact, Hataman was appointed by Noynoy Aquino in 2011 as the OIC Governor of ARMM. The said finding put Bongbong Marcos’ VP electoral protest into a good light. This supports the allegations of Atty. Glenn Chong that most of the presumptive VP’s voters are ghosts.

The Heirs are Magnified

Sandiganbayan records show that the former senator whose electoral protest against the presumptive VP Leni Robredo is about to get a ruling from the PET for the recount on his pilot provinces and Ilocos ex-Governor Imee Marcos who is a survey favorite for Senator in the upcoming were listed as beneficiaries of the Swiss foundations earlier found by Sandiganbayan’s 5th Division as illegally created and maintained. The mainstream media magnifies this highlighting both heirs. However, as a basic protocol, their other sister, Irene is also a beneficiary. This is a normal proceeding for such legal case according to family law.

Election Protest Update

Atty. Glenn Chong blasts Robredo off by saying:  Rather than recalculating ballots in the earliest and most effective way, it took almost 23 months before the ballots were opened and counted again. This is because of the dilatory motions of Robredo’s camp. Even without questionable issues, her lawyers are urging the PET to divert its attention and delay the revision or recount proceedings. Up to this point they succeed. It is definitely not a habit of an innocent person. The rogue finds a way of hiding the truth. The case deceiver is a thief. It is an enormous offense to the public to steal their voting rights.

Marcos Detractors Turn to Imelda as the VP Electoral Protest Pilot Recount Finishes

protest

By: Elena Grace Flores

The VP electoral protest recount is now finishing in the 3 pilot provinces of Bongbong Marcos. PET must issue a ruling few months from now. This seems to be the fear of the presumptive Vice President Leni Robredo’s camp. Plus the rest of the Marcos detractors. The massive propaganda against the former First Lady is nothing but to discredit her son. This is their enemies’ chance of tainting the narrative. A jail term for her is unlikely according to the law. Despite that, the LP manipulated media massively covers comments on her alleged arrest or imprisonment.

[VIDEO]: Ordered Arrested! Imelda Marcos found GUILTY after 26 years on charges against her!

Mere Gossips

Atty. Glenn Chong said that comments about parole, pardon, and probation in the case of Rep. Marcos must not be the highlight at this stage of her case.  The accused has not been sentenced yet and there’s no final judgment on these 7 counts of graft verdicts as the appeal for each is on its way.

More Remedies

The judgment on Rep. Marcos is not final because she could still file a motion for consideration at the Sandiganbayan. Worse comes to worst, even if the motion is denied, she can still appeal it to the Supreme Court. Unless the decision is executory, talks on the pardon, parole and probation are not necessary unless the detractors are into politicking someone who can hold the highest position in the land. It looks like attacking the mother to destroy the son scenario.

Jail is Far Away

The Marcos patriarch is somewhat safe from jail even if the judgment on her cases becomes final. She can always bail out.  It is very possible that the court grants her that option because of her old age. The former first lady can still have her freedom after all.

Senator To Be

Whether or not the bail is approved or canceled, the judicial jurisdiction prevails. Under the 114 NIV Rules, Rep. Marcos’ age is a big factor. She can remain free while the appeal is ongoing. Former Senator Juan Ponce Enrile’s case is the same. Although his case is plunder and not graft.

Electoral Protest or Perpetual Disqualification?

On the issue of perpetual disqualification to hold public office, this decision will only be final if the judgment is already executory. Therefore, Rep. Marcos can still run for Ilocos Norte governor. Meanwhile, nothing is heard from the mainstream media about the VP electoral protest update of Bongbong Marcos. They even failed to report on Smartmatic’s no-show during the November electoral reforms hearing. There’s no mention about the missing 10 voting machines as well. It won’t be a surprise anymore when the tide turns to BBM’s favor soon. The panic is pretty obvious amongst the anti-Marcos stalwarts.

Election 2019 Noise: See Why Former First Lady Imelda Marcos can Still Run for Governor Despite Graft Conviction

election

By: Elena Grace Flores

It took 27 years for the Sandiganbayan Court Fifth Division to sentence former First Lady and Rep. Imelda Marcos. It also happens to coincide with the upcoming midterm election where she is running for the current post of her daughter, Gov. Imee Marcos. Not too long after Gov. Marcos’ Congress intimidation, her mother is now the target of dirty politics. While the Marcos matriarch would be disqualified from holding public office if the conviction isn’t overturned, she still can continue to run in next year’s gubernatorial race until the anti-graft court’s decision is finalized.

Warrant of Arrest

Since Rep. Marcos failed to appear in court at the end of her corruption trial, an arrest warrant is issued against her. The 89-year-old widow of the former President Ferdinand Marcos was not present in court Friday. It was announced that she had been found guilty of seven counts of graft. Despite her absence, Marcos was sentenced to a minimum of up to 11 years for each count. She was acquitted on a further three counts of graft. However, she can post bail and perhaps not spend any day in prison.

Cases in the 1990s

Marcos, a member of the Philippines House of Representatives, will be given 30 days to explain her absence. The charges, filed in 1991, are traces from companies set up by the family in Switzerland prior to her husband’s ouster in 1986. Re. Marcos held various positions in her husband’s government during his 21-year regime while she was the first lady.

Almost the VP

Imelda Marcos’ son, Bongbong Marcos narrowly lost the election for Vice President of the Philippines in 2016. His protest against the presumptive VP, Leni Robredo is still ongoing. Currently, there are still 1,284 ballot boxes that remain to be counted from Negros Oriental. The 388 ballot boxes are now completed from its 4 towns and 2 cities. The damaged 194 ballot boxes may be verified using the decrypted ballot views as per the wish of Robredo’s camp.

Accusations are Stronger During Elections

The Marcos family were accused of stealing billions of dollars from the Philippine people during her husband’s presidency. Nevertheless, the numbers do not add up. All the funds during the Marcos regime are all accounted for. Many of their patriarch’s projects are still serving the people to this date from hospitals to roads. Nicknamed the “Iron Butterfly,” Rep. Marcos was portrayed to have a lavish spending. She left over 1,000 pairs of shoes and more than 800 purses behind when fleeing to Hawaii in 1986. These were used to magnify her alleged extravagance. Only to find out that most of these shoes are made or samples from her supported shoe industry in Marikina.

Next Possible Steps

As loud as it may seem, the verdict is not yet final. Rep. Marcos still has many remedies to resort to. She can appeal to the Supreme Court for one if the conviction is not reversed in the Sandiganbayan Court. At the end of the day, all these will just be the same old noise during elections. Perhaps the reason why her daughter who is running for Senator can’t comment more on this issue.

If Cursing can be Banned in Schools, Should Robredo’s Brainwashing Students be Stopped Also?

brainwashing

By: Elena Grace Flores

To curse in public places where students are is now prohibited in Baguio. This is under an ordinance of the city government.  City Councilor Lilia Fariñas is the author. It bans cursing in schools, computer shops, arcades, and other business establishments that young people patronize. Meanwhile, in her desperate attempt to look good, the presumptive Vice President Leni Robredo reads a book to young children in Tondo. The name of the book is “Digong Dilaw.” This is a mockery to the President whose nickname is Digong. He is often the target of her opposition group better known as the “Dilawans” or yellow faction. This stunt follows after she fails to influence the millennials through social media. VP protestant Bongbong Marcos got the approval of these young minds who are keen in verifying facts online.

Cursing is Banned in Baguio

The ordinance defines profanity as “blasphemous or obscene language. It may be regular or irreverent speech or action. They can be expletives, oath, swearing, cussing, profane, or obscene expressions. They are usually spoken in a moment of surprise or anger.” It doesn’t matter if a person is mad or trying to be funny. The ordinance still bans anyone from doing it in student-prone areas regardless of the context.

A Notice Must be Posted

Schools can expel students if they violate the ordinance. May it be in all levels, those that provide technical or vocational education and training, the business establishments where students are often seen must provide signs that prohibit these expressions of insults. Perhaps, it helps to be aware of this local law for the adults to become the role model of the young people.

Looking into the Smallest Unit of Society

It is readily obvious nowadays that cursing has become a normal practice. Children seem to imitate these habits seen from the manners of vocal adults in society. The President himself does some swearing even on national TV. Many believe that children can easily imitate this manner thinking that it’s the norm. Some church figures are wishing that the rest of the cities follow suit. In reality, it’s the family members that can have a strong influence on children. The upbringing counts.

Robredo’s Brainwashing

Robredo in a surprise visit to Brgy. 58 Day Care Center in Pritil, Tondo did something hilarious. She distributes school supplies and read the”Digong Dilaw” book to children. It is written by National Artist and NCCA chief Virgilio Almario. It is about a boy who only likes yellow things. Adarna first published it in 2003. What is odd is that the mainstream media did not pick this brainwashing act up. The news highlights the new ordinance in Baguio instead.

Wisdom from the Late Senator Santiago

The wisdom of the late Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago who ran with Marcos in the 2016 election lingers. In a YouTube video, she stresses that people should know that something is wrong with them if their urine is very yellow. In a medical and logical aspect, that makes sense. The boy who only likes yellow might be coincidental. But this effort of Robredo shows that she is quite aware that the negativity of the public towards her party can last through generations. That’s probably why she must start her brainwashing spree now.
