Makati Mayor Abby Binay runs head-on against her brother, Junjun during the upcoming midterm elections. Prior to that, she signs a specific MOA that allows patients from OsMak to be referred to MMC for specialized diagnostic exams, treatment, and even surgery. This gives beneficiaries of Makati Health Plus (MHP) Program or “Yellow Card”, full access to the best treatment and health care services in the city at no cost to them. It is also evident that there are Filipinos who seek her office for medical assistance. Individuals without voters’ certificate in the city find themselves on the first floor of the Makati City Hall. Those endorsed by a legitimate voter made it to the 21st floor. z

Better Health Services for Makati Voters

Specialized diagnostic and medical services at the Makati Medical Center (MMC) are now open to residents of Makati. This is after Mayor Abby Binay signs a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between Ospital ng Makati (OsMak) and MMC recently. “By allowing OsMak doctors to refer cases to MMC, we are tapping their equipment, technology, and expertise. We are making the latest and most advanced diagnostic tools available to our Yellow Card holders. More importantly, they can avail themselves of life-saving surgical procedures and treatments which have yet to be made available at OsMak,” said Mayor Binay said.

Makati Med Services for OsMak Patients

Under the MOA, MMC accommodates an OsMak patient when there’s a referral or endorsement letter from the city-run hospital. This means that patients must still go to OsMak for an initial assessment. Then, they can avail of the services from MMC. The agreement also includes emergency procedures. Although OsMak endorsement is a requirement. The Osmak to MMC referral program runs initially for a year. This is subject to extension or renewal.

Possible Expansion of Makati’s Medical Services

MMC President/ CEO Dr. Maria Corazon Consunji signs the MOA on behalf of MMC. OsMak Officer-in-Charge and Hospital Director Dr. Vergel Binay, Makati City Administrator Claro F. Certeza, and MMC Medical Director Dr. Johnny Sison are the witnesses. This is somewhat a breakthrough in the city’s medical provision to its constituents. Makati Med’s medical standard says it all. However, there’s no mention yet about the continuation or halt of benefits provided to Makati’s sister LGUs ever since the end of Jojo Binay’s term as Vice President.

Extended Facility

Mayor Binay said the city continues to improve and modernize OsMak’s facilities. At this time, some equipment like CT Scan or Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machines may need repair or replacement. Doctors from OsMak can send patients to MMC for such procedures. Once they get the results, the patient will come back to OsMak for diagnosis and treatment.

Take it from Ben Tulfo

Ben Tulfo is right when he urges Junjun Binay to give way to Mayor Abby. Sure enough, recently the Binay patriarch endorses his youngest daughter to the post. He also runs alongside her as District 1’s Congress Representative. Jojo Binay also reminds the public that he is still the chairman of UNA, the political party that he created. The question is, will Abby Binay extend assistance to non-Makati residents just like his father? That would surely put her in the national level in the near future.

Binay on Healthcare for Philippines

welcome By: Elena Grace Flores
It’s heart-breaking watching news on TV with regards to fellow Filipinos carrying their dead child because there’s nowhere to go for proper cure when you do not have money in the Philippines. Sure, you can always go to health centers or public hospitals but there’s no guarantee to prioritize you because of the long lineup and limited facilities plus supplies.

This is the very reason why Vice President Jejomar Binay’s priority goal for his 2016 Presidential bid is to provide free quality healthcare and insurance to all Filipinos. Take the case of his healthcare programs in Makati. When you or your child is sick, you just have to go to your baranggay’s healthcare center then the doctor will give you prescription – for you to pick up your free medications from Palanan Center. You can do all that without any money from your pocket or at least you just need minimal transportation fees if you do not like to walk.

That scenario in Makati is possible if you have the Makati Health Plus Card. Aside from the free consultations and medications, you can also take advantage of some scheduled free testing and surgeries for cataract or glaucoma procedures. Other diseases will be subject to individual cases but one thing is sure – that you can have a quality healthcare perhaps not luxury healthcare but good enough to live a descent life as you age. Vice President Binay wants all Filipinos to avail of this healthcare program  when he become President in 2016. Make sure to cast your votes in favor of Binay if you want a healthy Philippines!
