Boxer to Senator: Pacquiao’s Faithful Legacy

welcome By: Elena Grace Flores
It is evident that many people don’t quite understand Manny Paquiao’s goal of getting a higher position in the public office for public service when he is already blessed with so much money from the boxing arena. He is running for senator in the upcoming 2016 election.

His intentions or like other people say; ambition can be very confusing to those individuals whose aim in life is to just make more money. On the other hand, it can be very clear to those people who understand the purpose of their life better and to those who are happy to help others. It cannot be denied that true happiness can be felt when making a difference in the life of the less fortunate.

Qualification wise with experience, education, attitude and status, Manny Pacquiao is very qualified to serve as senator. It can only be questionable to some of his closest kin, friends or fellow Filipinos knowing his humble beginning – that he can achieve as high as he want to be status wise in service to the people with the divine guidance from above. They probably have to practice their faith to be as blessed as Manny. From boxer to senator, why not?

Manny Pacquiao Discloses Traumatic Childhood Experience

welcome
By: Elena Grace Flores

Manny ran away from home when he was 13 years old. The reason might be very traumatic for a child but think about it. If Manny Pacquiao did not have the reason to leave his family in Gensan, will he become the Great Filipino Boxer of today? Certainly, whether a circumstance is positive or negative, there’s always a reason for everything.

In Manny’s case, it was horrible to witness his own father grabbing his beloved pet dog, butcher it, cook and eat in front of him who was very emotional during that time. Even if this did not happen to us, we can only imagine the shock, disbelief and fear for the action made by the older Pacquiao. He might not be thinking straight at that time – but many fathers unfortunately in this part of the world have done the same or even worst!

Some impoverish people blame their status for the wrong doings committed. Others are just too dumb to recognize the right from the wrong actions or perhaps refused to know the difference of both to have excuses in life. Whatever the case may be, justice may not always be served but blessings are real too. No wonder – it’s always Aling Dionisia or Manny Pacquaio’s mother who always get the credits for the man that he is now!

OFWs or Overseas Foreign Workers are considered living heroes in the Philippines and they are actually given the Free of Tax Privilege. Yes, we can’t say who’s right or wrong between the Bureau of Internal Revenue’s bout with boxing champion Manny Pacquiao. They are both just justifying their actions as they claim that it’s their duty to do so. So, If Manny is also considered a living hero for giving dignity to the Filipino people, is he worthy of a tax consideration if not exemption for a job well done? Read this (most phrases are in English but there are also Tagalog expressions):

Govt open to compromise with Pacquiao on tax case, says BIR chief Kim Henares

By: www.gmanetwork.com

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) is open to a compromise deal with Philippine boxing champion and Rep. Manny Pacquiao in relation to a P2.2-billion tax case, based on the Internal Revenue Code which allows such an arrangement between government and the taxpayer. http://www.gmanetwork.com/news/story/337565/economy/finance/govt-open-to-compromise-with-pacquiao-on-tax-case-says-bir-chief-kim-henares

Nothing can’t be solved if both parties will have a heart to heart talk. Since Manny’s patronage to his native land and to his own people can’t be bought by billions of dollars, he will make amends to remain being a role model of a good Filipino citizen or else he could already have given up his nationality and enjoy his money in the US where he already has a house – and obviously, he is very welcome there. On the other hand, the BIR should also define the procedure to the public on how Manny should declare his taxes – because there might be other talented Filipinos who are earning overseas – the same as Manny!
