Bongbong Marcos’ Voters in 113 Precincts where he Got Zero Votes Resort to Social Media

welcome By: Elena Grace Flores

Bongbong Marcos performed very well during the 2016 election. He finishes a very close second to Liberal Party candidate Leni Robredo with 14,155,344 votes. It is just over 250,000 less than the winning number. Marcos’ camp claimed that Robredo’s margin was the result of fraud. The electoral protest is to proceed as it awaits for the recount date from the Supreme Court. However, due to the delays, most of his voters resort to social media, particularly through Facebook political groups. The noisiest are the ones who voted for Marcos but their precinct registered a zero vote for him. This development makes him even more popular and causes Robredo to be hated by many.

[VIDEO]: Sen. Bongbong Marcos Received Zero Votes in All These Places

Reaction from the INC

Members of the influential Iglesia ni Cristo expressed outrage after their votes in Lamitan, Basilan disappeared. Liberal Party vice presidential candidate Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo got all 100 percent of the votes. The church members accused the Liberals of allegedly “stealing” their votes. They noted that the results in a clustered precinct at the Bohenge Elementary School in Lamitan City showed Robredo obtained all 595 votes while all of her contenders, including Marcos, got zero votes.

Macalintal’s Defense vs. Unconditional Obedience

Robredo’s election lawyer, Romulo Macalintal, thinks that nothing is wrong with Robredo getting 100 percent of the votes. But the INC said it was impossible because it has three “locales or churches” in the area. INC member and former congressman Rodante Marcoleta said that the church members were “indoctrinated to follow its leadership’s decisions in absolute and unconditional obedience.”

Manipulated Votes

Thousands of the INC members posted their outrage on Facebook that went viral right after the election. It is still ongoing and is getting more intense. Some posts call for mass actions at the Supreme Court. The INC members particularly questioned where the votes for the church-endorsed Du30-Marcos tandem went but only the recount can resolve this. Most Filipinos believe that the results of the votes were manipulated.

Senate Fake News Hearing Unites Du30-Marcos Campaigners

senate

welcome By: Elena Grace Flore

All Filipinos always have political preference may they be in social or mainstream media. The recent proliferation of fake news Senate hearing distinguishes false information from opinions. Bloggers insist that democracy allows them to voice out their side of the story regardless of the other side. This is not the case with journalism as a profession. Analyzing the outcome, it is clear that the Du30-Marcos supporters come to terms with the tandem despite not voting for the same during the 2016 election.

Media Propaganda Affects People but Love Remains for Marcos and Du30

propaganda

welcome By: Elena Grace Flores

Thee love of the majority of Filipinos for President Rodrigo Du30 remains just like with the Marcoses. This is despite the decline in his net satisfaction and trust ratings, according to Palace spokesman Ernesto Abella. Bongbong Marcos earlier expresses his disagreement to control social media. He explained that it can actually neutralize biased mainstream media reports. The Marcoses has suffered more than 30 years of misinformation after his father, the late Ferdinand Marcos stepped down in 1986. Media propaganda causes his popularity to decline. Just like what Du30’s detractors are hoping for.

Youtube video by; CBC News

[VIDEO]: CBC news Senior Correspondent Adrienne Arsenault reports from Manila about the horrors of President Rodrigo Du30’s war on drugs. She also speaks to jailed Philippine Senator Leila de Lima who is a vocal critic of the country’s strongman president. (An example of black media propaganda).

Ratings Dropped

Abella explains that the drop in the President’s net satisfaction ratings was expected since the “honeymoon period” for the administration has now ended. “The change in the President’s satisfaction rating, from 78 percent in June to 67 percent in September, and trust rating, from 82 percent in June to 73 percent in September, is normal given the fact that people start measuring their expectations usually after the honeymoon period, or after a year in office,” Abella said this through a press briefing in Malacañang.

Public Trust is Good

In spite of this, however, Abella believed that public satisfaction remains “good” and public trust remains “very good”. Social Weather Stations (SWS) conducted the non-commissioned survey from September 23 to 27. Those were days after the nationwide rally held on September 21 – the National Day of Protests.  The Liberal Party-inspired groups protested the alleged street killings and alleged human rights violations in Luneta. They blamed the administration’s drug war for all the killings. These include crimes of passion, feud among illegal drug criminals, and personal rifts or grudges. However, the pro-administration supporters were bigger in number. They rallied to show their support to the President in a bigger historical vicinity at Plaza Miranda.

Survey Period

“It is worth noting that surveys are snapshots of the public mood at a given time and the SWS survey was conducted between September 23-27, just 2 days after the National Day of Protest – the bold initiative of the President allowed citizens to freely vent their grievances about the excesses and shortcomings of the government. Some sentiments may have spilled over,” Abella added. The LP cannot accuse his administration anymore of suppressed freedom of speech. The leader did learn from Marcos’ plight.

Love Begets Love

Nevertheless, “the love is still there,” Abella added.   The Palace official assured the public that the government would “continue to work harder to address the public’s urgent needs in order to bring a comfortable life for all.”   “We enjoin everyone to set aside self-interest and together build a nation worthy of the next generation,” Abella said. Biased media often interview only the sides that support their interests. In the video, Senator Leila de Lima, of course, did not admit that her own lover and bodyguard has a signed affidavit of her involvement with the drug trade that put her in prison. Emotional family members of some fatalities are also featured to solicit condemnation geared towards the president even if they are isolated cases or victims of other social problems that are in existence since time immemorial like the communist insurgents’ kidnap for ransom activities.

Social Media Trend: VP Bongbong Marcos in 2018

social media

welcome By: Elena Grace Flores

Ferdinand Marcos Jr. or Bongbong Marcos expresses his confidence to win the legal battle against current Vice President Leni Robredo to reporters. He immediately becomes a darling of social media when he said that opinions posted on channels like Facebook, Twitter, and Google-approved websites are answered in real-time. These mediums become the outlets of the people’s voice, he added. It’s just a matter of measuring the actual data available to know the majority. To win the recount can place him a heartbeat away from the Presidency.

[VIDEO]: Handa na ang kampo ni dating Senator Bongbong Marcos para sa recount ng mga balota kaugnay sa election protest nito laban kay Vice President Leni Robredo.

The Wealth Talks

Bongbong Marcos does not deny that his family is in talks with the President, a political ally on the wealth for humanity. Du30 even advises them to seek immunity but they refuse it. Marcos said that they are willing to sign a “quit claim” deed. It would identify properties and assets it had acquired legally and relinquish its claim to whatever else the government finds. “If the government says there are hidden things, we will help them find it and you can have it,” he added.

It’s Time

“We are definitely sure that when the recount starts the true result will emerge and prove that the votes in the vice-presidential election had been incorrectly counted,” Marcos told the press. His victory serves as the family’s remarkable political comeback in the executive office. 31 years had passed after the end his father’s 20-year rule.

VP to President

His mother, former First Lady Imelda Marcos, 88, remains a member of the Congress. She represents the family’s stronghold in a northern Philippine province. Imee Marcos, his sister is the governor of Ilocos Norte. It is Congresswoman Marcos’ dream that her son becomes president. Perhaps this time, the Senate and the media would listen to her pleas on the wealth for humanity. This is in conjunction with the Marcos foundation and the World Bank.

Social Media Trend on the Succession

The President also openly admires the leadership style of the late President Ferdinand Marcos. He considers the Marcos clan as important political allies who help him rebuild the nation. He counts for the younger Marcos to take over the Presidency at the soonest possible time which adheres to the Philippine constitution. Firstly, it’s VP Bongbong Marcos in 2018.

Trillanes or Uson’s Media Credibility? Convict Binay First before Du30

media

welcome By: Elena Grace Flores

Senator Antonio Trillanes IV’s accusations against former Vice President Jejomar Binay really destroyed his chances to be President. However, the opposition bets at that time against the Aquino administration outsmarted the LP. They forged an alliance to beat the “Yellows.” President Du30 emerges as the winner who is even fiercer than Binay personality wise. However, they both support Bongbong Marcos’ presidency.  Trillanes now applies the same anti-Binay media propaganda against Digong but to no avail. He somehow lost his credibility as his promise to convict Binay fades away.

Youtube video by; ABS-CBN News

[VIDEO]: Several senators slammed Communications Assistant Secretary Margaux “Mocha” Uson for insisting that she does not need to get both sides of a story before publishing a blog post – the same she demands of the media.

Binay Update

The court allows Binay to travel despite the objection from the prosecution, “considering that the said accused had already been conditionally arraigned.” Binay’s lawyers explained that Binay was invited by Dr. Gary Song-Huann Lin of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines. He is to deliver a speech on October 11 at a forum entitled “Taiwan’s New Southbound Policy”. They added that the trip will help improve the relations of the Philippines with its neighboring countries. So, he still serves the country in his capacity as former VP.

Business with Pleasure

Binay’s nine-day travel period includes a four-day trip to Hongkong for his “physical and holistic well-being.” The court sets the usual conditions like the P752,000 pesos as travel bond; the itinerary of travel shall be in Taipei, Taiwan, and Hong Kong only; he shall not leave the Philippines earlier than October 9 and to return on or before October 17; he should present himself to the court not later than 5 days upon arrival. Binay faces four graft, one count of malversation of public funds and nine counts of falsification for the alleged anomalous construction of the Makati City Hall parking building. These cases are not yet resolved due to lack of evidence.

Trillanes vs Uson

Senator Trillanes said Uson is a representative of the government, so there is no line separating her official position from the personal opinions on her blog. Uson’s Blog posts are basically a part of the dissemination of the PCOO as she is a senior official, he added. Therefore, this goes the same with Trillanes. Since he was a prosecuting Senator of Pnoy before, he is also using his position to scatter his biased accusations now. In Mocha’s case, she’s a blogger and all people including government officials can say their own opinions as democratic rights. It’s just a matter of how many followers they can get.

The Pro and Anti-Administration Stalwarts Battle

Media channels are crucial in the pro and anti-administration battle. Biased channels can now easily be corrected through public campaigns. Social media has the edge on this. Statistics can easily be obtained. Therefore, a biased group cannot claim anymore that the majority believes them without a supporting figure. In the case of Leni Robredo, she is fond of using the term “the people’s will.” However, Bongbong Marcos has more followers as per online data.
