Kanon: Fil-Japan Friendship Cat Instrumental to the “Gift”

By: Elena Grace Flores

Kanon, a 12-year-old Japanese mix-colored Carico or Caracal cat becomes instrumental in the advocacy of two cat lovers from Japan and the Philippines. The feline is a large, rufous-fawn creature with tufted black ears. It has creamy underbelly with faded brownish spots and long legs. The face has exquisite markings on top of those features. Wellness and Purina brands are its favorites. The conversations of both always include some drastic stunts because Kanon just likes to leap to catch its owner’s attention. Understanding such behavior is the beginning of a destined friendship. z

Friendship Cat

Originally, caracals are among the most beautiful of wild cats. They dwell in India and Southeast Asia. Desert regions and wild forests are not for them. That’s why they can become domestic pets easily. Even its interference during Skype conversations is quite obvious in both cultures. It sure knows how to make a scene. However, like the kind-hearted owner, it can be pacified almost instantly.

Abandoned Too Soon

One night, the alerting noises did not come from Kanon. The tiny tingling meowing was hard to ignore. The somewhat annoying sound reaches Tokyo live from Manila. The Japanese cat can’t just settle down sensing that the owner is a little disturbed. It turns out that a two-week-old kitten was helplessly abandoned right at the garage. Worst, it’s not yet weaned.

The “Gift” of Friendship

The new kitten, “Gift” is very fragile. It just got lucky because the Japanese cat rescuer and carer knew exactly what to do. All instructions that very night was carried out in the Philippines with her detailed instructions.

The Nurturing Package

The co-parenting from both countries goes on with a nutritious package sent from Japan. Most stray Philippine cats do not usually have this privilege. Ideas sprout like mushrooms. Breeding beautiful felines can actually cost a substantial amount of money. However, better do it right from the start if they nurtured for a sustainable concept.

Can a Cat Cafe Thrive in the Philippines?

Days went by and “Gift” becomes an active kitten with a little sense of entitlement. Very demanding little creature sometimes. The good part is that at a very early time, it is definitely a joy. Someone to talk to when things are not turning to one’s favor and a child’s delight during tantrums. These therapeutic incidents can really make a cat cafe in the Philippines worthwhile to both humans and the highly neglected animals. They can be nurtured to their highest potential and in return, they can heal people. Though the setting must be an upmarket one. Just because people who are willing to pay for the experience are the well-to-do. Therefore, a decent, cozy, and captivating venue is a must. Definitely, it is something to dig deeper for.

Sleeping Pills Intensify Cardiac Conditions

welcome By: Elena Grace Flores
It has been a tradition by practitioners to prescribe sleeping pills to the patients with heart problems after discharging them from the hospital – for their intended recovery at home. However, it has been noted also that the more the patients are hospitalized the worst their heart condition become. This triggered researchers to review the prescription of discharged patients – and the focus was brought to sleeping pills since they are the most consistently prescribed drugs.

111 cardiac patients were involved in the testing of the sleeping pill connection with the deteriorating heart ailments. Their records were reviewed after being admitted to Japan’s Tokyo Yamate Medical Center from 2011 to 2013. Electrocardiogram results, echocardiograms analysis and chest radiographs viewings were analyzed. There were 3 group classifications done for the tests. The first group consists of diastolic heart failure patients, next are the ones with reduced ejection fraction and lastly the group of systolic heart failure patients. Fatal cases and frequent hospital readmissions were notable among patients with diastolic heart failure.

There was a trend noticed also among patients. Patients with sleeping pills prescription even up to the latest stage of their ailment suffered at least 8 times re-hospitalization than those whose sleeping pills prescription was discontinued. Others end up dead with the worsened condition. The length of their benzodiazepine hypnotic treatment was measured in the differences of blood sodium levels when admitted and blood hemoglobin levels when discharged.

The findings were assumed to be the effect of Benzodiazepine hypnotics having cardiodepressant actions. Respiratory depressant actions can occur which lead to sleep disordered breathing that is fatal. Dr. Masahiko Setoguchi who led the research team of the Social Insurance Central General Hospital in Tokyo, Japan, clarified that sleeping disorders are side effects of heart failure thus, the reason of sleeping pills prescription. This study was initiated based on the Heart Failure Congress 2014 presentation in Athens, Greece.

This is the 5th Miss International title for the Philippines and the 3rd major crown by a Filipina this year, following wins by Megan Young at Miss World and Mutya Datul at Miss Supranational.

Bea is not only beautiful from the outside but also in the inside. No one can ignore her grace and charm – and most especially her genuine outlook on the aftermath of the devastation brought about by Typhoon Yolanda. This is a clear example how beautiful it is to hear positive things from a tragic experience. It is evident that in her capacity as Miss International 2013, she can definitely bring nations together!

Philippine typhoon rebuilding to cost $3bn: Aquino

By: Yahoo

The Philippines will need nearly $3 billion to rebuild parts of the country destroyed by the deadliest typhoon in its history, the presidential palace said Saturday.–finance.html

No matter how  expensive the money that has to be paid, this is not the major concern. It is troubling enough watching the pleas of the typhoon victims whom most of them lost a loved done if not all. What would life be without the people you care about? Yes, losing someone is a passing stage in life – but losing them drastically like this incident is enough to make a surviving person psychologically unstable. Hope that a great scale of help will come for this need at the soonest possible time.
