Holding on to the Protest
He said that to run for Senator himself would affect his electoral protest against Vice President Leni Robredo. The recount is still ongoing that pertains to his case before the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET).
The protest is Taking a Long Time
The vote recount for the poll protest between Marcos and Robredo officially starts last April 2. That was after 2 years of waiting. Marcos said that it is not fair to let the people wait that long on disclosing if there’s really cheating, how it was done, and against or by whom.
The outcome of Electoral Protest Uncertainty
Imee is now on his last term as Ilocos Norte governor. Her plan to run for Senator results from the uncertainty of the electoral protest. Imee earlier said that the uncertainty of her brother makes their family ponder about sending another Marcos to run for a national position. This time, it is her who is likely to do that. Although in the interview her brother hints on the younger Marcoses to follow suit.
The President’s Endorsement of Gov. Imee
President Rodrigo Du30’s endorsement of Imee, should she decide to run, would be “a big factor.” The Filipino leader is a good friend of the Marcoses and has publicly said that Imee is one of the few politicians who support his quest to be president.
